I made a custom player to showcase works of cool chiptune artists on the breaks of my streams. I was thinking what to do when a music file can't be loaded. I decided to still display it but apply some glitchy effect. Not the best, but it's my first time.

Maybe the thing is that the music i am making is in a pretty niche medium (chiptune), so i can't expect much attention. Only a few artists from chiptune scene had ever reached more than 100k views on a single song, some of these songs had even reached more than a million views.

I did ask this person if it was ok to tell other people about it, and they said that it's up to me, but i never did it back then. I felt like it would seem like bragging or would attract unwanted attention i wouldn't be ready for.

It was nothing short of a miracle, and perhaps i wasnt the only artist who they have anonymously endorsed in such a way, but it felt like it was a dream, i couldnt believe that something like this would happen to a small unknown artist like me.

Back in 2021 something extraordinary happened to me. Someone extremely well known outside of a chiptune scene, someone who i wouldn't even dare to talk to on my own did discover my song "Running Out of Time" and did pay me 100 usd on bandcamp just because they liked this song that much.

My first compilation album did really well on bandcamp in terms of sales, but since then my songs would never get as many views or comments as they used to have two years ago, i don't know why.

Tbf, that would be unhealthy. Yeah, you felt good in a short term when that happened, but perhaps it was because you were younger and even then, your body was probably using its energy reserves at the expense of being burned out later.

You sleep almost twice as much as me. I always wake up after 6 hours but i never feel energized and have to force myself to sleep for at least a hour :(

Some people on discord are weird af. When you reply to them they think that it's a personal attack, despite you both not knowing each other at all. Then they quit mid convo and go talk shit about you on bsky, and then have the guts to say that you need to learn your manners. How ironic.

Wow, that's a whole lot of disturbing context. He doesn't really have morals anymore i guess, no different than scamming someone.

nu11 @nu11-chiptune.bsky.social · 24/01/2026

Damn. I wonder if he has some kind of mid-life/existential crisis, not that it would make a musician resort to something like this. Probably wanted to make quick buck without putting effort into it. Never listened to his music before because I'm not familiar with LSDJ scene, but this is just weird.

More from the "parts I'm proud of" series. This was the first time I ever wrote a solo in my song. Song name is "Hyper Ultra Overdrive" #Chiptune #FamiTracker

An alternative to raising the noise channel volume before doing export is either to raise APU 2 volume level in nsfplay device mixer, as it's not just noise that sounds more quiet in nsfplay, but also triangle and dpcm, or make every other channel more quiet in Famitracker which is more hassle.

020

nu11 @nu11-chiptune.bsky.social · 02/01/2026

You can achieve all that by using a find and replace function in Dn Famitracker before doing nsf export, no need to adjust your entire song beforehand

nu11 @nu11-chiptune.bsky.social · 02/01/2026

Little guide on how to make the exported nsf from Famitracker not sound like ass in nsfplay. It depends on how many chips you're using, but if you're using vrc6 your noise channel volume shouldn't be higher than D, which you will raise to F before export, note release "=" should be replaced with L00
