PyFixest inference matches fixest now 100%, out of the box and all of the time! - We have added support for fully saturated event studies, which in turn enables @apoorvalal.com's DiD specification tests. 4189

Canada & Mexico are the 2nd most affected countries. The EU & China are somewhere in the middle of the welfare losses distribution. See here 👉 citp.ac.uk/publications... 143
Nicolò Tamberi @ntamberi.bsky.social · 04/03/2025But let's not forget that all these tariff announcments, retraction and re-announcements introduce a lot of uncertainty. Looking at the NAFTA renegotiation, I found that uncertainty of losing preferential tariffs for decreased US imports from Canada and Mexico. And they did not recover with USMCA 100
Nicolò Tamberi @ntamberi.bsky.social · 04/03/2025What if tariffs are lifted? I find similar responses for tariff increases and decreases. In about 15 months we are back to square one 100
Nicolò Tamberi @ntamberi.bsky.social · 04/03/2025The response of imports to these special tariffs was quite quick. In about 15 months we see the full response. Given a tariff increase by 25%, we can expect imports to drop by -26% in the first month and arrive to -53% after one year or so 100
Nicolò Tamberi @ntamberi.bsky.social · 04/03/2025So the 25% #tariff on Canada and Mexico will start today. The closest experience we had to these tariffs are those imposed by Trump in 2018: largely discriminatory, possibly negotiable and hopefully temporary. I've looked the past experience to learn something @thecitp.bsky.social @uktpo.org 102
