One more of my favorite spreads from the photo book “x elements かぜとつちと” (published by Akaaka). Hanachozu and Kagura mask. The bearers of festivals and folk performing arts are not artists or specialists, but ordinary people. www.akaaka.com/publishing/-...

youtu.be/LG4BFA_XvdY?... A quick walk down the Mizuki Road with an english speaker. Not much info for the uninitiated unfortunately. btw the guy who made the video, J Nightmares, has a great YouTube channel for spooky modern Japanese stories. He's a good storyteller. Highly recommend.

#Harbin had a slow start but after the first half hour really picked up and was an engaging historical thriller that also discussed a key moment in early 20th century #Korean history during the #Japanese occupation. Worth a watch! #하얼빈 #한국영화

Here was an @nsullivan.bsky.social #boardgame buy at the Gilded Raven yesterday, Oh My Pigeons! Draw cards that’ll help you fill your bench with pigeons. First with a full bench wins. Each card has special abilities. One lets you roll die for random fun. Not my kind of game, but quick and whacky.

All components for oh my pigeons. Bench, box, cards, die, bench. meeples.

Each winter in parts of Northern Japan, the demons descend: Namahage are oni dressed in winter coats of straw, bringing drums and looking for naughty or whiny children to terrorize. Centuries ago, they were more akin to kami. #FolkyFriday

A group of modern Namahage dressed in outfits of straw coats, red, blue, or yellow masks, all with horns.

#SoloLeveling Reawakening in #IMAX was a thrill from start to finish! The recap of season 1 was sharp, highlighting the best action moments, and the second half really delivered. Watching Jinwoo’s #necromancer powers unfold was a highlight-can’t wait to see when and how he’ll use them next! #🎬 10/10

#Gladiator II delivers intense action and memorable performances, with Denzel stealing the show. The naval battle is a stunning set piece, and the dual emperors bring a darkly amusing madness to the plot. A bold and thrilling continuation of the original, even if not without flaws. #film #🎬 8/10

The Price of Nonna’s Inheritance” is a darkly humorous #Italian #film about a family’s desperate plan to protect their Nonna and her inheritance from a devious con artist with a deadly history. With eccentric characters and twists, it blends suspense and comedy in an entertaining way. #filmreview #🎬

#TheHandofGod on #Netflix offers a unique & quirky cast during a boy’s coming-of-age in #1980s #Naples. The #film captures the color & grit of the city. Some scenes, like his fascination with his mentally unstable aunt and an erotic encounter with a geriatric neighbor, feel unnecessary and awkward. #🎬

#TheHoldovers impresses with standout performances by #PaulGiamatti, Da’Vine Joy Randolph, & Dominic Sessa. The early 70s setting is sharply captured. Giamatti’s brashness and sharp language make his character both memorable and comedic.Every scene feels purposeful w/ no filler, making it compelling.

#Anora stands out thanks to Mikey Madison’s lead performance, balancing humor with unexpected twists. The goofy side characters are a highlight, though the #film feels slightly long. #Eidelstein is wonderfully dislikable as the co-lead. Some scenes felt too raunchy, but overall, it’s worth a watch.

#Heretic showcases excellent performances from #HughGrant and the leads, with great chemistry driving the tension throughout. It offers debates on faith, blending suspense with intellectual depth. Though light on jump scares, the buildup is strong, but the ending feels hurried. Still a unique watch.
