The National Day for Truth and Reconciliation honours the lost children and Survivors of residential schools, their families and communities. It is a time to grieve and to acknowledge the long-standing effects of residential schools.

The National Day for Truth and Reconciliation is tomorrow. This day provides an opportunity to recognize and commemorate the tragic legacy of residential schools. The NSNU office will be closed on Wednesday in observation of this Day, reopening on Thursday, October 1st at 8:30 AM.

The BC Nurses’ Union issued a 72-hour strike notice on June 29, following members’ rejection of the tentative agreement by an overwhelming 67 per cent of nurses who voted on the TA.

Today, ED staff were on hand for nonviolent crisis intervention training provided by the occupational health and safety wellness office of the IWK. IWK nurses and others are participating in risk identification, verbal de-escalation techniques, & non-harmful physical disengagement skills.

This weekend, Pride celebrations are taking place in the Valley! Valley Pride will kick off its festivities on Saturday with a Pride March beginning at 11 a.m. The March will begin at Miners Marsh, following opening speeches, and end at Centre Square.

The Nursing staff at the Lillian Fraser Memorial Hospital in Tatamagouche celebrated Nurses week with two days of breakfast. A lovely cake was provided by the ladies auxiliary and cookies were provided by local president Nicole. Prize drawings wrapped up another amazing Nurses week!
