He is the second best hitter in baseball besides Yordan Alvarez, as well as an excellent defensive player, and he has played in every game this year, an increasingly appreciated skill in the load management era. He vibrates his way through all the games he never misses, and in short is not just the consensus MVP but the MFP: Most Fun Player.

One of the funniest things dogs do: use their paws to inform you in the most strenuous terms that you have *not* been excused from further petting their tummies.

Virgil the semifloop puffball dog lies in the grass of my backyard, upside down, his front paws pointing hopefully at the tummy that I am already petting. You can see his pink little snoot, like he just finished eating a popsicle.

More, except this time you can see his face, and it’s clear that he’s very happy with the belly rub and also that he expects his employee to continue it in perpetuity.

I’ve been holding back on this so I don’t jinx it, but he’s been with us since Saturday and so far is settling in extremely well, so I think it’s time y’all knew. Meet our new five-and-a-half-month-old supervisor, Virgil, who loves snuggles, being comfy, and chasing his new dad around the backyard.

Virgil, a floofy white dog with hazel eyes and a black nose freckled and ringed with pink, lies down happily, if somewhat apprehensively, on a comforter while wearing a blue harness and leash.

A few days ago, @magicisthecause.bsky.social asked if it was okay to forgo a present, since we have a very expensive, wonderful adventure coming up. I pointed out she already got me a birthday present this year: I met Mo’ne Davis. You don’t get pictorial proof, because I looked terrible, but here.

We've gotten bumps from some pretty serious people in the past, and we'd love to repeat that success this year—so if you can get eyes on our #Orgullo design, or you know someone who can, don't hesitate. We're two volunteers working with no budget and, frankly, I like punching above my weight.
