Maybe. I have to admit I was somewhat surprised when I saw that result from this setup. I can't really say what I expected, since that's a CRT and it's supposed to have zero lag, but seeing it confirmed was nice.

Or this. :) This is the Time Sleuth port for the Tang Nano 4K, going through a HDMI -> VGA converter to a sync combiner to the CRT. On the very top of the image I get a consistent 0.01ms lag.
A CRT showing lag test output at 0.01ms lag.

Yes, it looks a lot like a "because we can!"-type of solution. Maybe an answer to devices like the Double Pro Fighter and Multi Game Hunter?

I wonder if they actually have the Neo Geo adapter. There's only the PC-Engine SRAM adapter pictured, with no SRAM card.

The SNES adapter for the Magic Super Griffin. The Magic Super Griffin is incredibly rare already, if that thing was ever released it must be one of the rarest pieces in piracy history.

Happy 25th birthday, Game Boy Advance! To celebrate, I am happy to announce the Game Boy Enhance is FINALLY here! The Game Boy Enhance (AGBM) is a circuit-level recreation of the Game Boy Advance. It uses almost all-new components, but still uses the original CPU - it's not emulation!

My feed on Mastodon is different from my feed on Bsky (or Twitter, for that matter). As sad as it makes me, it looks like the majority of the retro gaming bubble stayed on Twitter, even though it's overrun with bots and MAGA types. My feed on Mastodon is mainly civil rights and strongly anti-AI.

That was probably its intended use case. Everyone I know just downloaded their GB/GBC games from the internet back in these days, since they were so ridiculously small. GBC emulators also were around early, too. That's probably the reason why this device turns up so rarely.

I still remember thinking that this thing is quite useless back then. PCs still had floppy drives, but the medium was already on the way out. The GB X-Changer with its parallel port was so much more convenient.

There is a complete one on Ebay for 6000 CAD. 😅 Or 225 EUR without the cartridge. It's a bit ridiculous. Here are two reviews from Subport.org from back in the days: web.archive.org/web/20020422... and web.archive.org/web/20010210...

Got one v2 and two v3 carts back then. I'm halfway through building two carts myself, but stopped in January 2025 because there was an improved menu on the horizont. Since that didn't work out I should probably take up that project again, too.

In the same manifesto, Palantir's owners argued that we need a national military draft, that soft power is over, and that we were too hard on Germany and Japan after World War II. I don't think that company should be allowed to exist anymore.

The "Pro Fighter X" series of SNES copiers has kinda stupid disk handling code: it doesn't filter out FAT entries on floppy disk that should never be displayed, like the Volume name ("CHRIS"), directories, and long filename chunks. This causes errors during display & loading. So I RE'd and fixed it.
"Pro Fighter X" SNES copierIt's displaying the volume name first, "CHRIS" then overlaying invalid entries into the file list. Also tries to load invisible files...My disk fix code. Done through a bit of searching and trial-and-error, since these BIOSes don't run on emulators, and no SNES emu emulates floppies anyway...Pro Fighter X file display fixed up! Also with a new tilde glyph added into the font, as well as a new custom SFC background

Hey Bob, I recently tried this one for Genlock and 240p/480i with the RT4K: a.aliexpress.com/_EIVlrzW - it has two inputs and audio extraction, maybe this is something you want to test for your channel? Seems to be available from plenty of sellers, too.

Great, thanks! Found that table at 0xFC00. Also experimented a bit. A ROM with "SUPER MARIOWORLD" in its header always gets the "AUTO PASSWORD" dialog. Super Mario World with an edited title doesn't get that dialog, so I guess it's safe to assume it's header-based.

You're traversing 0x00 entries and connect them to each game entry that's 16 chars long, is that it? Codes are divided by 0x0A? Anything else?

Seeing the exact same list of games starting at 0xC000 in my Pro Fighter X2 V.G3 dump. Gold Finger Codes start at 0xD5E0 and start by with a leading 0x00? How do you connect game and Gold Finger code?

That would be the right way to license all media, in my opinion. Since music isn't licensed exclusively, streaming services need to compete on service quality, and it doesn't matter where I'm subscribed. But that makes too much sense for the customer, I suppose.
