Seeing all these "open for work" on composers names on social breaks my heart. You guys are making the music that keeps me going everyday! I’m sure you’ll land on your feet eventually 💪 I can’t wait to hear what you’ll cook next

EXCLUSIVE: 2026 is shaping up to become one of the most nefarious years for video game layoffs. I spent the last couple of months asking game music composers a very simple question: how are you holding up? nowplaying.cool/how-indie-ga...

It’s so hard to keep the chin up sometimes, but I want to believe that talented people who are passionate about what they do will make it down the road. At least that’s what I tell myself when I feel down bad. You have all my support. You got this.

My main takeaway from this article is how much meaningful connections can turn things around for indie artists. But I know how hard it is to create those—believe me, I know. As a matter of fact, I lost my primary job while working on that article; feels like I’m back to square one some days.

Thank you for your input Lacey. I totally get you. It feels like becoming some sort of Swiss army knife is the way to go to stay afloat these days. But I also feel like you can’t really do things alone anymore.

That’s crazy. I can’t even imagine how it’s like for newcomers in the industry.

Thanks for your article, Pierre. The whole industry (the whole world?) is changing, and we're trying to survive by hanging on to the branches until the storm passes.

Sharing a lot of these views. If you find gigs, you think it may be your last. People try to show solidarity, but at the same time, personal problems pile up and eat your time. And the ever wider pay gap between the few employers and workers changes the relationships from bad to nonexistent.
