Alphabet's market cap is $4T and it only exists because of the internet, and is also only really ~20 old. Seems like that $6T bucket is very fillable.

Felsch and Wild Thing are different characters, though.

320

Doesn't matter. They'd be different fictional characters. Kevin Costner doesn't make the list -- he's not fictional. His characters could.

100

Not sure I'd consider the Cal Penal team. If so, you have to include a lot of others (especially because of Major League III: Back to the Minors).

200

This may become an off-season project for me. There aren't a lot, particularly if you limit it to movies.

220

Oh, we definitely need a ranking of fictional baseball players who played for two or more teams.

Why not just create an IRC-style system where if you lead the post with a hashtag, it automatically goes to anyone who follows that hashtag (provided it's not spam, which you'd have to account for)? E.g. #MLB I can't believe what I just saw! Would go to anyone who follows #MLB

000

Oh, it's one of those "both sides" booths, got it.

000

Who's the color analyst? MV is as excited as he isn't.

200

This Phillies at Atlanta booth is AWFUL.

011

For a brief moment in history, it looked like Michael Conforto was going to be better than Kyle Schwarber.

000

The second one is so bad that it obscures how bad the fifth one is.

The current "Trending" list on Bluesky which reads

1. Bluesky meme: post a vampire
2. Fans react to baseball game
3. UK considers rejoining EU
4. Hegseth to cut 20% generals
5. Flydubai flight diverts to Saudi Arabia

000

The White House isn't having AI proofread for these type of typos?

000

Honest question because etymology and use is a hobby of sorts (a side effect of the newsletter): why do you hyphenate "anti-Semite" and capitalize the S?

000

Playoff expansion is bad *as designed* and the amount of fun the next 2-3 days creates should be used to design it well.

000

you still need a daily trivia newsletter hint hint

000

I think they mean the reboot of the TV show

000

The market for Carson Benge red rookie redemption cards (worth $100 in Fanatics FanCash if he wins ROY) has shot up to about $10 on eBay, with three (!) selling for $40+ in a 19+ bid auction just yesterday. Sal Stewart remains over $50 for his, McLean is going for five bucks or less.

000

100% except that I didn't go to LSU

The transfer portal is the bigger issue than athlete pay. Schools like TCU and Texas A&M get hit hard by it.

Could help a lot more than you think... football is life in many places.

100

Yeah, I've been in a dynasty football league since 1993 -- it's been great.

000

It's a border rally, so my guess is illegal voting scaremongering

000

Interesting. I haven't played fantasy baseball in forever -- I find it conflicts with my Mets fandom too much -- but I always wanted to create a bigger dynasty league. Also wanted to create a two-sided league where on side is GMs (teams vs. teams) and the other is agents ($ vs $)

How many keepers do you get to keep?

100

Carson Benge in his first 30 games: .178/.235/.263 - Carson Benge in his last 125 games: .299/.364/.461 (via /r/NewYorkMets)

And to the Mets collapse last year!

I legitimately question whether trade deadline bullpen deals have a meaningfully positive EV, but this is a good example of missing the shots one doesn’t take

At first I thought you were being kind to the guy on the left and then I saw the blazer of the guy on the right

Dan Lewis @dandotlewis.bsky.social · 26/09/2026

It's an artifact of the methodology. They ranked it based on the number of times you're on a ballot, and obviously BB is going to be on more ballots than BCS.

110

Isn't Sandy Koufax supposed to have already paved that path?

100

Oh, and it also means that Breaking Bad all but *has* to beat Better Call Saul.

000

And it almost certainly precludes strong sleepers from making the list. Something with a lot of high-ranked votes from a small number of people? Invisible.

I've watched this 100 times before tonight, and for the first time I noticed that the acid doesn't seem to harm the trailer.

000

Anyone looking to start a newsletter for a solo business/consultancy? LMK, I need some input.

000

The coverage of the Al-Ahli Hospital explosion was awful so I'm not surprised that there are feeling of such bias within their offices, but I'd love to see data beyond anecdotes.

000

Will you be talking about your NL ROY vote after the results are announced?

100

My ah-ha moment a while ago was that the danger of social media is confirmation bias. So the "but everyone there knows that" is kind of scary, and arguably worse than the delusional view that these platforms aren't echo chambers.

000

My nearly two-week quest to get autographed cards of random minor Mets for under $4 each has so far yielded: Jeff McNeil (who isn't so minor) Jordany Valdespin Kevin Plawecki Ryan Clifford (may he not be minor) Colin Houck (same, but come on)

000

You weren't wrong, just a bit early, I fear.
