So many cool moments. THAT moment towards the end where suddenly things start paying off and help comes in, hit me the same way as a moment in ME3 did. Or that moment in Endgame. Either way I was hyped up. The moment when someone cool comes back after a thing was a highlight too.

Ace Combat 8 is so damn cool It's going in my GOTY list for 2026 Just finished a Veteran play through using expert controls. It plays like a dream. The story and characters are great too Actually had me caring about them and being hype AF (or dreading) when certain things happened. I want more!

Then there's the problem I had for an hour at launch where the game was misconfigured and only launched into the digital extras and not the actual game. How that got passed testing, I don't know. All up a meh to negative experience so far. I love Halo. But it's painful to see it like this.

And visually it's a shiny UE mess. I absolutely hate the film grain and chromatic abberation that is smeared over the screen. That I can't even turn off. I have it on max settings and can run at 120fps. But it still looks bad? Why.

And the constant attempts to reference lines in the other games is cringe inducing. The "Boo" from Halo 2 was funny as a one off. I didn't need it to be an retconned established quirk that the Chief does to grunts all the time. Same for Johnsons lines.

I want to like #HaloCampaignEvolved. But so far it's not scratching that itch. I can't take it seriously when they want to adhere to 20 years of well loved and established lore. But then treat the prequel missions like badly made fan mods from Custom Edition and immediately break important lore.

I think the main problem is that it COULD be a good game. But it's got those MTX and Gatcha problems that ruin it. It's why I dropped off pretty fast. Gotta admit that if there is a re-release with none of that in it and it being a proper game. I'd pay for it.
