Is communication really so hard that you had to kick me from the party instead of saying "oh we meant physical DPS, our bad"? (Also, opting for Monk over Pictomancer for a Deep Dungeon is certainly a choice.)

FFXIV chat log. I joined a party finder with the description "Need 1 carry DPS for POTD Floor 100-150. An extra 4th is ok but not needed."

After I join, healer says "Finally! Oh wait we need DPS still." I point out the listing said the fourth was optional, and they reply "None of us are DPS"

When I point out that I'm a DPS, the party is disbanded. (Or they kicked me, idk, I think the text is the same.)

Healers spend most of their time doing DPS! Your job isn't to keep the party at full HP, it's to keep them *alive*. A dead enemy does no damage. Heal when you have to -- and when you're learning the ropes, it's fine to err on the side of caution -- but DPS is a form of mitigation. Don't be Sylphie.

Sylphie FFXIV: But I don't want to do more! I want to heal! I'm good at healing! You can't make me do those other things!

Not to mention if you search for Emet-Selch/WOL, filter "otp:true" to ensure you ONLY get WOL/Emet fics, and check the filters on the sidebar... I doubt the ratio is THAT different if you take multi-ship fanworks into account.

788 Emet/M!WOL fics compared to 693 Emet/F!WOL fics. (And 95 "other", which could be NB!WOL, 56 genfics somehow, 32 "multi" under which Ao3 in their infinite wisdom lumps both poly ships AND multiple ships per fanwork, and 12 F/F.)
