It’s my first time participating in #wipwednesday in the hope it will get me to write more of this death eater Hermione, War AU #Dramione that been stuck in my brain for almost a year now 👀 It’s my first long fic and it’s so hard to write, I admire you all for managing to outline a fic 🙃

She apparated to the edge of the cottage grounds. One of the unregistered Malfoy properties.

It wasn’t much. Too small, too plain for their usual tastes, which was exactly why it was safe. No one would look for a Malfoy here, hidden in a house that was painfully, deliberately ordinary.

That's why the Malfoys had bought it, in case they needed to escape.
Never truly got the chance.

Lucius Malfoy kissed the ground the Dark Lord walked on and called it devotion. Now his wife was in St. Mungo’s, her mind splintered — or silenced. Madness, they had told everyone. More like locking away a dangerous woman so she wouldn’t speak out.

The world was safer when its women were on leashes.

The sun was low, casting the house in gold. A single light glowed in the upstairs office. Draco, probably. Still researching. Still hunting Horcruxes as though there were any hope left.

Her breath hitched. She let it. She had to. She had to let the grief drown her before she stepped inside, or it would crush her when she faced him.

Drip. Drip. Drip.
She could still hear it — the slow, steady drip of blood down her mother’s table.

She could still feel her mother’s arms around her. See the shock in her eyes. Hear the paper slip from her father’s hands as the curse hit him.

Her knees buckled, and she caught the wall, breath coming in gasps.
What had she done?
