Spiral galaxy(NGC 1433) Credit:NASA, ESA,
This spiral galaxy was observed as part of the Physics at High Angular resolution in Nearby GalaxieS (PHANGS) program, a large project that includes observations from several space- and ground-based telescopes of many galaxies to help researchers study all phases of the star formation cycle, from the formation of stars within dusty gas clouds to the energy released in the process that creates the intricate structures revealed by Webb’s new images.

NGC 1433 is 46 million light-years away in the constellation Horologium.

Clearest view to date of Uranus' rings. 🔭 🧪
The planet Uranus on a black background. The planet appears blue with a large, white patch taking up the right half. The patch is whitest at the centre, then fades into blue as it expands from right to left. A thin outline of Uranus is also white. Around the planet is a system of nested rings. The outermost ring is the brightest while the innermost ring is the faintest. Unlike Saturn’s horizontal rings, the rings of Uranus are vertical and so they appear to surround the planet in an oval shape. There are 9 blueish white dots scattered around the rings.

The S&P 500 has generated 15% annual returns (including dividends) over the last fifteen years. And all the “New Normal” people from 2009 who warned of increased volatility and “a lower return environment” are still on TV peddling their latest worthless forecasts. They do wear exquisite suits.

Entropy is a measure of the disorder within a system. From the largest scale to the smallest, it’s the driving force behind the inevitable chaos in the Universe. This fascinating idea describes how energy spreads out, and how organized or chaotic something becomes over time.

What to Do When Someone Has a Panic Attack Ask if they've considered that in season 6, episode 4 of the Sopranos, an episode of Gilmore Girls is playing on TV
In S07E17 of Gilmore Girls, Richard is wearing a tracksuit. Lorelai makes a joke about it by implicating a lunch date with Tony Soprano,
Ask if they realize this means that both the Sopranos and Gilmore Girls exist as television shows in the other's universe. From: Journalists flock to Bluesky as X becomes increasingly 'toxic.' By www.nbcnews.com/tech/rcna181...
NBC quotes Ashton Pittman, editor at the Mississippi Free Pres. “We have posts that are exactly the same on Twitter and on Bluesky, and with those identical posts, Bluesky is getting 20 times the engagement or more than Twitter,” Pittman said. “Seeing a social media platform that doesn’t throttle links really makes it clear how badly we were being limited.”

Some of my prior #research shows how certain adult neurons tied to reward resist change! It is free access! doi.org/10.3389/fnin... On a macro level, this could provide a new hypothesis for why adults exhibit resistance to #learning, #anxiety, and #addiction. #neuroscience #science 🧠🧪
Neurons in adults are more "rigid" and require more stimulus to change. This is represented by a cartoon of neurons within an adult silhouette having straight and firm connections, opposed to the neurons within a child that have more flexible and adaptable connections.

Hubble Jupiter images in the UV suggest polar hazes are stirred by a vortex created by mag field interactions with the ionosphere and Jupiter's moon Io! A cool new UV view of this giant planet (image credit: T. Tsubota & M. Wong, UC Berkeley) See links in next comment for details . . .
Weirdly-colored image of Jupiter on a black background. The Hubble data were taken at ultraviolet wavelengths, hence the planet is shown in false colors, with bands of pale blue, white, and lavender. The Great Red Spot appears as a dark royal blue spot. The southern pole is swathed in haze colored dark orange and crimson colors, with a reddish oval vortex visible. Did you know New Zealand and other south-west Pacific islands have LEAF-VEINED SLUGS?! Unlike their omnivorous European relatives, these unique leaf-mimicking slugs eat only fungi. They breathe mainly through the skin of the back, which is kept moist by secretions passing along the many grooves! 🧪

Uranus and Neptune both have a super weird magnetic field unlike anything else in the solar system. The answer might be a giant ocean of supercritical water, 5,000 miles thick, hiding inside each ice giant. Story by me in The New York Times www.nytimes.com/2024/11/25/s...
