the only question is whether they can lose by ~10%, giving them a chance of holding on to 8-12 seats, or lose by ~15-20%, and it's back to Edinburgh South only (also the SNP/Survation not releasing a Holyrood poll attached to this makes me wonder if they ran it and it came back good for the Greens)

only 7-3 game I can think of tbf dim memories of Monaco having an 8-3 game, looking it up it was against Deportivo in their run to the 2004 final

understand the stats might be CL era only, but assume the 1960 European Cup final doesn’t count as a neutral venue?

just because it’s easy to make fun of Celtic being shit in Europe, doesn’t mean we should forget about it also being fun to make fun of Celtic being shit in Europe

Celtic threw away a four-goal lead to them two months ago

that Dortmund away game in 2001 was a week after 9/11, huh a pretty classic Houllier-era team, though a lot of them were young then

if you ever watch back the 2010 GE TV coverage, it’s funny how blatant and immediate the Labour pandering to the Lib Dems is Labour Right dudes trying to look serious, saying “actually, i’ve always believed in proportional representation”

on behalf of Northern Ireland fans, I should point out that Josh Magennis’ first international goal was over a decade ago, in the game which sealed qualification for Euro 2016… …and he did wear the number 21 that night, and in every other NI picture of him on Google
Josh Magennis playing against Greece in October 2015, wearing the number 21 shirt

people were rightly outraged by Robert Jenrick's suggestion that uniformed army officers should shoot unarmed and innocent people but last night, the Tories' Deputy Leader made the exact same argument: that any attempts to bring army personnel to justice for shooting civilians in NI are "vexatious"

also an actual RB, even if Bradley is PL average at that position it could be an upgrade

the party is capable of talking about it! just not getting anyone in front of a camera to say it in the heat of the moment when it matters the most, or talking about it consistently for more than a day bsky.app/profile/libd...

other obvious example of an issue to go on is opposing violent racism/far-right disorder obvious example of the problems with the party's comms that Davey opened his conference speech talking about that, but the party did not go big on it on social media, to members, or journalists, for some reason

the only systematic bias I will ever accuse PL refs of is towards English players Salah touched the ball and got fouled just as often as Grealish did, they just routinely didn't give them

one of the weird things with UK comedy is that if you graduate to TV, you can essentially give up on stand up if you want to not sure if Ranganathan or Beckett still tour, but if they do, it's not very often

can part of the punishment be going back in time and sending off Rodri and Fernandinho for all the midfield fouls they got away with?

Koumas seems a nice lad but it did take three injured strikers to get him on the pitch, and it shows Chiesa must be *really* shit in training

good motivation for me to head off out a while back I was sat on an electric publicly-owned bus heading to watch a fan-owned team play top-flight football, and I realised it's literally what I want everyone to have access to

fun fact: the small bit of Motorway in NI that exists as a bypass of Ballymena is only disconnected because fog grounded Thatcher’s helicopter on an early-80s visit and when sat in the back of her big vehicle convoy she looked at the roads and told Jim Prior they were spending too much money on them

also the essential bargain of the Davey leadership to the rest of the frontbench was "I won't involve you in policy discussions, and in return you won't have to publicly defend anything stupid or toxic" and now they have been presented with stupid ideas, and are pissed off at not being involved

FST a huge stretch for them a very unlikely imo TUV will unilaterally stand down in East LDerry/Upper Bann to allow DUP to cling on against the Shinners DUP will surely have a huge go at North Antrim, too a stronger UUP campaign in North Down could let Alliance come through the middle
010
Richard @notthathunter.bsky.social · 09/10/2026
four UUP seats? four? that's insane (only projection map like this i've seen that actually includes NI, massive credit for that if nothing else)

as students, me and my mate once spent a long late-night walk across Edinburgh telling naive Ed Uni students that said mate had been accidentally shot by a senior PSNI officer and they had covered it up I talked about not being able to see him in hospital and everything

to be clear, when I say "Kemi Badenoch wants the Houses of Parliament to burn down" I am literally referring to her publicly saying as much in public www.bbc.co.uk/news/article...
bbc.co.uk
Conservatives call for rethink of Parliament revamp
Tory leader Kemi Badenoch says current plans to refurbish the Palace of Westminster are "out of control".

Richard @notthathunter.bsky.social · 05/10/2026
Kemi Badenoch, who hasn't worked in a normal professional services job in over a decade, would go absolutely insane in reaction to the normal HR onboarding process at a large consultancy firm she'd rather Parliament burn down than be converted to the employment standards of a normal workplace

important to remember that this is the same party whose energy policy relies on an assumption that wholesale gas prices will remain both low and stable engaging with reality not a current strong point, intellectually

if Scotland had a regular political magazine, you could do a definite big cover feature/interview on Greer and Mackay and where SGP go from here but the state of our journalism means that won’t happen, presumably

that’s fair, think the Saudis giving up on LIV Golf entirely after a few years also suggests their model doesn’t automatically work in a US context

Richard @notthathunter.bsky.social · 05/10/2026
really makes me think that the super-deferential attitude to team owners in US sports culture would make it ripe for effective sportswashing (except the cartel behaviour of US league owners means they’re highly resistant to letting state owners into their club)

when the Council admin is unpopular, the Council leader isn’t a good choice (the SNP recruited so well that they put their Shetland MSP straight into a Ministerial job…)
010
Richard @notthathunter.bsky.social · 04/10/2026
Liam McArthur made a joke of that in an early speech at Holyrood, pointing out his party leader had the lowest vote share among re-elected incumbent MSPs (individual candidate quality a huge factor in Shetland imo, suspect the party’s internal review will cover it, though)

this is all downstream from the infrastructure being insufficient the Open Access operators can only bid for routes where there is excess capacity, and the only excess capacity on the network is on these slightly weird journeys because the main lines are at or above operating capacity
