A quick update in case anyone is worried why I've been quiet for an extended period of time. As well as dealing with the ongoing stress of being unemployed, it's vitally important at the moment that I reserve my energies for supporting someone very dear to me who has been having a very tough time.

Aarrgh, want to go out for an exercise walk but it's fair too hot, and one arm is absolutely killing me from a vaccination I had earlier today. I know vaccines can cause some pain in the arm, but this is something else, and I still need to have a second shot in 28 days time 😱

Applied for a job a couple of days ago via Indeed, when I was out for lunch yesterday I got a message saying I was going forward to an initial interview, and to click a link to go to a page to schedule a date and time. Because I was out I left it until the evening.

While I may not follow football, I have to salute the loyalty of Leeds fans. A few days ago I posted that I wasn't a Leeds fan, but qualified that by saying I was completely disinterested in football in general, it wasn't an attack on Leeds. Now getting blocked by loads of Leeds fans.

I've been added to a moderation list for blocking fans of Leeds. Not only am I not a fan of Leeds, I am famously disinterested in everything to do with football, didn't watch one minute of the world cup. Leeds did have its charms then last time I was there, they still had a Wimpy.

Having a post dinner walk in the woods as the sun starts to set. Not dark for a good hour or so yet, no need to send out search parties, but dusk in the woods is so wonderfully peaceful and calm, it could only be better of a very special woman we're sharing the beauty and tranquility with me. 🤗

My long term gastro issues cleared up for a while earlier this year, but I had no idea why. I now seem to have accidentally experimentally shown that they settle down if I have a really high protein diet. Eating a lot of high protein, low fat yogurt settles things down and eliminates the symptoms.

The next big step in my reentry to the world looms large, and it is a big one. @mrstales.bsky.social and I have tickets to go to Ignite near Heathrow a week tomorrow. 🔥 Very excited, but as someone who at the age of 53 had never been to a regular nightclub I'm also a little terrified.

I'm not going to say why just yet, but in a couple of months time I'm going to undergo the ultimate test of my confidence in my body image 😱 Going to have to hit the gym pretty much every day, and change my diet to something a lot healthier to get in as good a shape as I can by then. 💪

Good news, the big shot of antibiotics Tommy received yesterday has started doing the job, and he's starting to use all four legs again. Bad news, starting this evening I need to get pills into him twice a day for the next 10 days. That's never a fun task.

Vet thinks he's been in another fight, probable bite abcess on rear leg, got some antibiotics and antiinflammatory drugs which will probably sort him out, fingers crossed 🤞

Had an interview for a data analyst job with the council this morning. I'm overqualified in some areas, totally lacking experience in others, but they said they saw promise of transferable skills in my CV. Should find out by the end of the week how it went 🤞

Waiting at the vets with Tommy. He's done something to one of his hind legs and is only using three. Silly cat still hasn't been letting it slow him down, still jumping on and off the bed, and as affectionate as ever, so hoping it isn't too serious.

That's the first session completed, which actually turned out to be more like group therapy with us all encouraged to contribute. Baring my soul like that in a group setting was more emotionally difficult than I thought. I know I can be fairly open here, but the medium acts as some sort of shield.

Half an hour until the first online seminar, why do I feel so bloody nervous, it's just an online course? I think it's because it is going to force me to acknowledge that fear of change, even change for the better, has been holding me back for too long, stopping me being the best version of me.

This is very painful, having to stand aside when there's someone I care about deeply desperately in need of a virtual hug. 😢 I'd rather give them a real hug, but that wouldn't be possible most evenings, but this evening even that virtual hug is off the table. And I have no-one to blame but myself.

The amazing Mrs Tales ❤️ has been finding resources to help me deal with some of my current mental health issues. Tomorrow I have my first lecture of 3 in a course called "Why Change Is Hard?", while I have changed a lot in the last year Mrs Tales is right there are aspects that still challenge me.

For personal reasons I am going to have to largely be absent from Bluesky for a few days. I am now having to face up to the consequences of my recent behaviour and poor choices, and while those consequences are justified they are not going to be easy for me to deal with.
