Surprise at the sheer velocity of the onset of fascism is the result of regarding it as a political rather than a criminal entity: it's theft

The most cogent example of independents and “centrists” carrying water for horrible politicians I’ve ever seen. Criminally corrupt politician seize a hot button issue, or make one, that’s popular, and people hedge in support of him attacking the issue. Don’t need a crook to holler about fraud.

Noticing more weird glitches in the software you use everyday? I mean like the kind of glitches where you notice yourself noticing them? Same thing with YT vids, social streams, conversation threads? Actual interaction IRL? Driving? Grocery shopping? The Matrix has you. Just go back to sleep.

Back in the BCCI days, you also had Giuliani taking a bow for high profile Italian Mafia takedowns. And it was simply a passing of the torch. The Russian mob filled the vacuum and got full run of all the rackets built by La Cosa Nostra. Then openly metastasized into every institution in America.

Police don’t show up to planned peaceful protests in battle numbers, armed for war upfront, weapons drawn, firing first. Approaching in an antagonistic offensive posture. They dominated have their heavy military armaments visibly, ready. They just don’t usually lead in with them. Kill squads do.

Intermittent fasting: to detox from media. Not to hide. To heal. Even just a little bit. Because the algorithm doesn’t just exist to amplify psychological dependence and outrage, it’s continually engineered to exacerbate anxiety and apathy. Don’t hide. Heal. Maybe even take that time to plan.

It’s certainly possible to white label the bluesky app into an audience-specific product. You can add private communities and interest specific features. In that case, community is the product, just like the discord for a creator’s fans

I mused years ago that their behavior is like that of people afflicted with addiction. They’re so far gone, lying and cheating and stealing doesn’t even come close to satisfying them long enough for us to begin to fix what they’ve destroyed. So far gone, they’ve now gotta plunder all our tomorrows.

One of my biggest concerns & reasons I did not want to compartmentalize was that I would need to know twice as many students (I know, secondary people, it's still not that many students in comparison!). I don't love this aspect. I don't know my students or their families as well as I would like. 5/
