Yeah I thought they might go this route and it just feels pretty tired after a couple of cards. Actually seeing how people could be different is way more interesting, and likely leads to even cooler cards, if it isn’t just the opposite of the base card.

@scryfall.com Question: I was searching for the tag "counterspell-soft" and sorted by release date. The oldest listed was Vodalian Mage even though Power Sink was Limited Edition Alpha and shared the same tag. Is Limited Edition Alpha not considered "released" and won't show up in RD filters?

Have only played one match against it but I had to mulligan to 5 to be able to have the lands and removal spell to stop from losing on turn 2 in this case. Didn’t feel good to play against but I could see where the combo is fragile or inconsistent

This person has no idea what the word “random” means clearly. There is no universe where knowingly placing a card at a known position in your deck with pile shuffling is better than having a vague idea from a mash shuffle.

Yeah this sort of idea of a shuffle as solved by magicians a long time ago, and it’s incredibly hard to do with sleeved cards consistently. There was a math paper about shuffling that determined that 6 riffle shuffles(equivalent to a mash of sleeved cards) is needed for a “random order”

Yeah, personally the fun part of UB for me is seeing a card with a weird mechanic bc it’s trying to match the flavor as much as possible. So when you get a card that is “whenever [insert IP thing here] happens, get a counter” it’s both uninteresting to play and a let down of the fantasy, imho.
