First day @nosterfieldnr.bsky.social this year! Cold and windy but as always enjoyable. Surprised I’ve not noticed the Cyclamen before (it’s been there at least 7 years!), Shaggy Scalycap, Darter and some geese (an awful lot actually). Also entertained by a Peregrine hunting Lapwing.

Bad phone photo on a rainy, windy autumn PM doesn't do it justice but this patch of Purple Moor-grass fen-meadow @nosterfieldnr.bsky.social is full of Devilsbit Scabious and orchid seedheads. A remarkably good example of a rare plant community but it's only 8 years old, established from local seed.

Went to Nosterfield today. When we arrived it had clouded up so didn't expect to see the White Letter Hairstreaks in flight. Within minutes we managed to see one mid-way up the tree which sat for quite a while before walking out of sight. @nosterfieldnr.bsky.social @teesbirds.bsky.social

Mullein moth caterpillars really enjoying munching away on the Figwort! We don't mind though - it is a tough plant 😊 Mulleins and Figwort are both part of the Scrophulariaceae family, so they eat both (despite their name) Their camouflage needs work though...

Birds-eye primrose (Primula farinosa) This beautiful plant was once widespread in damp meadows across the Central Vale. A combination of habitat loss and drainage mean it's been lost from the Washlands for now. Find out more on our website: www.luct.org.uk/plants
