i’m so excited to be cinematographer for my first project since getting my degree focusing in film!! i hope you all really enjoy what we’ve come up with and will consider backing our team of talented trans artists on kickstarter, or even just giving a boost to our bluesky campaign!

BIG NEWS! the kickstarter for the film ROADKILL i’m making with RUINER, eri, & an amazing team of other trans artists is LIVE! it’s a super unique project about the relationship we have with violence & our bodies. we have great rewards for backers so take a look! www.kickstarter.com/projects/roa...

Disassembly/ Destruction
1. Back Roadkill on Kickstarter November 1st
2. Watch as RUINER beats the shit out of eri with the front bumper to a 1993 Mazda RX-7. I mean absolutely savages it. The kind of violence that makes you rethink whether bodily autonomy is all its cracked up to be. The kind of violence that makes you uncomfortable to sit with.
3. Enjoy the really fun swag you got for backing the film.”another poster featuring RUINER and eri and a qr code that takes you to the kickstarter page

that’s an official expansion that’s already happening! i’m talking about unofficial proposals
130 3
emily north @north0fnorth.tgirl.gay · 31/10/2026
this difference also manifests in the most commonly advocated-for unofficial system expansions: the most commonly requested project i saw in chicago was pushing for brt on streets like western. the most common i see in nyc is for rail projects like queenslink & the utica ave subway

emily north @north0fnorth.tgirl.gay · 31/10/2026
in chicago the buses have a higher ridership than the L while in nyc the subway has higher ridership than the buses, and you can really feel it in both cities. getting a train-only journey in chicago feels like a treat while having to transfer to a bus in nyc is a minor annoyance
5371 37
emily north @north0fnorth.tgirl.gay · 31/10/2026
chicago & nyc probably have the two most similar transit systems in the u.s. vibes-wise but a key difference is in chicago trains exist to run routes buses can’t adequately serve, while in nyc buses exist to reach where trains don’t. it sounds similar but the distinction matters

line that cuts across the country north of san francisco on the west coast but south of st. louis in the midwest and dc on the east coast

this is genuinely the best info screen i’ve ever seen on public transit anywhere. every time i get an r211 train i have to take a few moments to admire how well done it is
the info screen above the doors showing which line you’re on, what stations are next, what lines you can transfer to, what traincar you’re on, what direction the train is moving in relation to the train diagram, where the exits and elevators are in the upcoming station, and where surface streets are above you

slight (mostly thematic) spoilers for digger, one of the best new movies i’ve seen in a good while and a really interesting one to watch the same week as primetime
Five stars on letterboxd

Review:

This movie very much believes in the power of narrative art; it simply additionally understands that power can easily be weaponized to control a narrative. Presenting the people ruining our planet as incompetent buffoons provides momentary catharsis at the expense of understanding how evil actually happens, and an emphasis on blaming past generations for current problems leads audiences towards thinking everything is already over and the people in power now are less worth being angry or holding accountable at than past generations. One of the boldest and most important films of the 2020s and one of the rare cases in which I do think all the critics hating on it simply don’t understand what it’s doing.

if you can figure out how to fill out an application on cityjobs.nyc.gov/jobs, there’s nothing for you there right now. the employees at the job center also couldn’t say when they will have anyone able to look at resumes, just that they “want to eventually”

i’ll save you the trouble as someone who went on opening day today: they started turning people away after noon. once i made it a bit further up the line i learned they’re not currently hiring anyone or accepting resumes. they’re only helping people figure out how to apply on the city jobs website

met someone at an event last night. i tell her i just moved to nyc. she goes “want a recommendation? tell me about yourself.” i say i’m an artist. she pauses and asks “is your art more like a dead tree or a map to a place that doesn’t exist?” before recommending the brooklyn museum

some real doomer news is that this is still way easier than the u.s. version because even though suburbs do take up a lot of canada, canadian metro areas are waaaaay more centralized than we are down here. you gotta get like a thousand u.s. municipalities to hit 40%
