Today was one of those days when I went into a studio to polish off a set of complex film subtitles and was impressed by how everyone on the team worked with focus and without ego, despite the pressure and long hours. It's one of the reasons I've been able to live in Japan for over three decades.

I read a review of GMK on a "kaiju website." It contained several inaccuracies and that bit of irrelevance about how the film inspired "Minus One," which modern fanbois think is so vitally important to mention.

I've become increasingly frustrated by the use of my set photos and other material by YouTubers who can't be bothered to promote my work or even credit it. My only guess is they do this to create an illusion of being privy to inside info. In any case, I've started sending YT removal requests.

I keep seeing various discussions about the "localization" of subtitles created in the US. I have to say, it mystifies me a bit. Every line I write in Japan is gone over by the studios here; when I deviate too much, they want an explanation, which I'm happy to provide. What's going on in the US? lol

This kinda makes me happy & I hope to see more of it: I was in the video section of Yodobashi Camera and saw that the Blu-rays of "Sand Land" and "Spy x Family: Code White" contain my subtitles. I wish more domestic releases came with English subs. Or maybe this is an anime thing?

Not like I care, but anyone turning to social media for advice on Japan shouldn't take it at face value. My social media feeds are inundated with nonsense & 1/2 truths. Worse are the comments from those who fall for disinformation pushed by dopes who strive to be "Japan influencers."
