How many times did you press "Re-run failed jobs" this week? I haven't been coding much the last few days, and I still think I'm at 5 😅

Playwright v1.63 was just released, and it has a new feature called "Test locks". This means only a single test with the same lock name can run at any one time. Great for tests that mutate shared resources that can not reasonably be generated uniquely for each test, but it has some limitations.

Last week we shipped experimental Firefox support in Endform. This means you can now use the fastest Playwright test runner against twice as many browser targets! We're working on WebKit support to cover the whole suite of available browsers. endform.dev/changelog/20...

This is a fantastic read on how Linear keeps their application so fast performance.dev/how-is-linea.... We've already implemented a couple of these techniques in Endform, but we still have some ways to go.

Today, VoidZero joins Cloudflare. Vite remains MIT, vendor-neutral, and stewarded by the same wider team. The same goes for Vitest, Rolldown, and Oxc. Cloudflare is also committing $1M to an OSS fund to support independent development in the Vite ecosystem.

We just shipped endform query, a new CLI command for pulling Endform analytics data. A neat thing about this is that you can now ask your coding agent to help debug tests.

You don’t need to move your whole test suite into CI at once. Start by tagging up a few tests with "@ci" and then run "npm run playwright test --grep=@ci" in your CI pipeline. Tag up more tests as you go to increase confidence in what you ship.

So many v2 versions of the great tools we're building with brewing atm. Looking forward (with dread) to all the upgrades! @solidjs.com @drizzle.team alchemy.run are the ones I can come up with on the spot, but I'm probably missing one or two.

technically it's been ready for mainstream adoption for a while now, since those were out and mostly stable: - tanstack (query / router / start / form) - ark-ui (ui lib) - shadcn distribution (copy/paste/dl from registries and adapt) so whats missing?

1/ End-to-end tests are supposed to give you confidence. Instead, many Playwright setups create… chaos. Here’s why (and what to do instead) 🧵

Tonight will be one of the best nightlies of the TypeScript Native Preview ever. 1) @andrewbran.ch fully rewrote the language server infra into a snapshot model. No more data races. It's so cool 2) Sheetal added build mode (-b), and it's even _concurrent_ build mode. 10x+ on dt-tools, hot and cold
Benchmark 1: node ./node_modules/typescript/lib/tsc.js -b . -f
  Time (mean ± σ): 4.204 s ± 0.057 s [User: 6.437 s, System: 0.533 s]
  Range (min … max): 4.142 s … 4.305 s 10 runs

Benchmark 2: /home/jabaile/work/TypeScript-go/built/local/tsgo -b . -f

  Range (min … max): 361.4 ms … 387.1 ms 10 runs

Summary
  /home/jabaile/work/TypeScript-go/built/local/tsgo -b . -f ran
   11.13 ± 0.28 times faster than node ./node_modules/typescript/lib/tsc.js -b . -f

Proxies are so cool. We were talking about removing the need to use `createEffect` in 90% cases in Solid, and I was like "I think we can just proxy refs to avoid mounting effects". Mizulu from Solid community went ahead and put a quick prototype together. playground.solidjs.com/anonymous/45...

Super excited for where we're at with Endform! 🖥️ The CLI and runtime are ready for testing with customers. 📊 The Dashboard is good enough to get people going. We'll invest a lot in making this the best test reporting dashboard going forward. It's turning out so nicely! 😃

The new --erasableSyntaxOnly flag in @typescriptlang.org v5.8 doesn't work with the --build flag in monorepos using TS project references. How come? 🤔 We'd like to use it in the Endform repo, but only run tsc at the top level.

I just discovered pressing the Escape key from the login screen on a Mac will put it to sleep. I've been wanting this for so long, because the "Sleep" command is not reliable. It just unsleeps itself instantly most of the time. Lock + Escape in the future it is!
