"Calvin's Dad Explains Everything is Two Types" Meme

Panel 1: Playing a record? I'll show you something interesting.

Panel 2: Every movie is either a Con Movie or a Heist Movie. Dune Part 1? Con Movie. Dune Part 2? Heist Movie.

Panel 3: Patch Adams? Con Movie. Dead Poets Society? Heist Movie. Despite being called Heist, Heist is a Con Movie.

Panel 4: Calvin can't sleep.

Would you believe that 60% is in fact nearly 66%.
Reed wrote that "Nearly two-thirds of the Republican Party now believes it is immoral to be gay".
' The math isn't that
clean. In the poll, 35% of Republicans think it is morally acceptable to be gay, and 60% directly said it was "morally wrong". The correct figure is three in five rather than nearly two-thirds.

So I've seen a few people hyping up that Elephant Graveyard video and I was like Ok seems interesting then I started watching it and realized it was a sequel so I went to the channel page to find the first video and, uh, these thumbnails are definitely genAI, right?
Some thumbnails for episodes of The Elephant Graveyard Radio Hour, featuring three dudes who are clearly supposed to be the same dude but are clearly not, in a way that feels very slop-coded.

Really seems like he wants children to fall down into a pit with a high risk of either drowning or breaking their legs.
MIYAZAKI: I think the architecture of schools should also deviate

from the manuals. There is a park that Shusaku Arakawa-san designed

in Yoro Town in Gifu Prefecture that is a wonderful space. It's an aston-

ishing park that has no flat surfaces. Some elderly people have fallen

and even broken bones. I think school playgrounds could be like this.MIYAZAKI: I'd like to make a big pit in a place like that where you slide down and fall in. There would be mud and water at the bottom. Of course if it rains, the water will get deeper, and if there is no rain for a while, it will dry up. It would be a place where children could slip and fall in, and it would be hard to climb out of. That's the kind of pit I'd like to make.

The Disintegration Loops still feels like the purest ambient record ever made. A loop dying in real time, and you can't look away. That kind of decay is something we think about a lot too, letting silence and imperfection stay in the mix instead of polishing them out.MugenRadio bio:

I have no idea why this didn’t kill me. My best guess it has something to do with those shot changes, like he’s not falling far enough to trigger the autodeath before that change, and then the change resets the height, and that last one is actually a very short drop.

Ok the thing about Glóin is that it rhymes with Owen, but most people, including The Hobbit (2003), just read it as Gloyn. And that’s fine, it’s whatever, I’m not gonna be a stickler for correct pronunciation from a game that barely shipped. Except then they decided to reference Glóin’s dad.
His dad’s name is Gróin.

In general I’m a big proponent of respecting the character limit as inherent to the medium, but this really needed to be one paragraph.
Been spending too much time scrolling in bed in the morning so I thought l'd try the "leave my phone on the other side of the room so when my alarm goes off I have to get up" strategy.
But instead I've landed on the "wake up at 2:30 am to sound of dumpsters being moved and also the entire right side of my body is in pain for some reason, including my right eye so l have to immediately go put eye drops in lest I tear my cornea yet again" strategy, which I suppose is also effective.

Ok but they’re not going to. The organizations. Or they would’ve asked for these. Which they didn’t. Because they don’t want them. And won’t use them. And even if they did they would still be running a vast surveillance and kidnapping operation. With your tech. So fuck you. And your “consternation.”
The new tools provide organizations, including DHS and ICE, more information on how their workers use Palantir software. Organizations can set up alerts for "concerning behavior" like exfiltrating datasets, and search the session logs of individual users. They also allow organizations to see which users have viewed specific sets of information.

I started this because I wanted a better way for young people like me to understand their actual politics; the test was actually meant to just be for me. But then I realized the impact it could have, so I spent a great deal of time improving it. My goal is simple: build something that overtakes the original Political Compass.

As a high school student, I'm currently in the process of looking for summer internships and research collaborations. If you're interested in working with the dataset alongside me or collaborating on something, reach out, please!

Dropping this here as a reminder to myself to do this later but also we’re all clear that this is bullshit, right? Like these statements are horribly written. Show me a society where each person defines their own “cultural values and traditions.” That’s not a thing. It simply does not exist.
Statement: A society functions better when most people share a common set of cultural values and traditions rather than each person defining their own.

2. Again, not trying to be smug or pretentious, I'm not saying it's bad she read romance books, but there's a point being elided here and that's why do we even want people to read in the first place. "Well, now she loves to read." Ok. Is that...good? Like, what, to you, does that mean, for her?
I found Lee's candor to be strangely noble. I thought about the decades of withering angst about declining literacy rates-the ominous reports that college students can't make it through a pamphlet, much less a paperback, due to the mind-boiling assault of the algorithms ruling social media. How, then, are we supposed to wring our hands over the fact that in 2026 some people are reading more than they had in the past — even if what they're reading tends to conform to their preferred constellation of tropes, contrivances, and, yes, perspectives? After all, consuming these books changed Lee's life. She never read much in school. She assumed that books were for brainier people, beholden to an academic milieu that had permanently sidelined her. Well, now she loves to read. Who am I to tell her that she uncovered that love improperly?
