He twirls the ribbon around one finger, then drags it absently along his wrist, and the slide of fabric against skin pulls up sudden sense memories of Shen Wenlang tying those wrists together with—

“But you know. That I’m…” Gao Tu says, and Shen Wenlang jumps.

“What? Know what??”

Gao Tu stares at him. Then he looks down at the flowers in his lap (with its tiny ‘Congratulations On Your New Baby!’ card that the florist had attached), up at the table full of pregnancy-related purchases, then back at Shen Wenlang. When Shen Wenlang refuses to say anything, his lips twitch slightly, and he says blandly, “You know that I like yellow flowers.”

What’s the fucking point of repeatedly trying to talk to Gao Tu when Gao Tu doesn’t want to talk to him? What’s the fucking point, when all he’ll ever have of Gao Tu is one shitty dinner with his shitty father?

But even he has to admit that six straight days of “That’s to be expected for a concussion” and nothing else probably means Kaoru isn’t on the brink of death, and all of Kaoru’s scans have repeatedly come up clean. So when Kaoru falls asleep at Sia La Luce’s counter, Kojiro decides against wheeling him back to the hospital (where he’ll have to sit on an irritable Kaoru all night) and instead takes him home.
