For all Norman Lear's undoubted talent, fully lifting an already successful British sitcom and repackaging it for an American audience - twice - isn't exactly what I'd describe as 'visionary'. Not to throw shade, he was genuinely great, but it's not like he conjured Archie Bunker out of thin air.
