Today begins a new term at the Supreme Court. This morning’s first oral argument will address whether we can hold energy companies to account for their role in accelerating climate change. And the federal government filed an amicus brief supporting—you guessed it—the energy companies. 🫠🫠🫠

Update: This date didn’t even happen. He canceled at the last minute, stated he wouldn’t be available until 2.5 hours after our scheduled time of 7:30p, and offered to pay the cancellation fee for the restaurant in exchange for “doing something casual.” I haven’t responded yet. Just a text, no call.

The connection we’d made in advance of this first date was totally overshadowed by his strange behavior tonight. The slurred speech, oversexualized advances, and his persistence in trying to get me in the car w a man who was clearly drunk and high left me w the most sour taste in my mouth. 6/n

I suspect that he was high AF and the alcohol put him in the crosshairs of a crossfade that had him unable to speak clearly, sway in his seat, and barely keep his eyes open. To make matters worse, he kept making kissy faces and noises at me and kept trying to hold my hand at the table. 5/n

He blamed his tardiness on being unable to find his wallet. Immediately, I rolled my eyes (figuratively ofc, bc I was raised right). I assured him that I would cover dinner and that he could get us dinner next time. The waiter took our orders, and things were normal until he started drinking. 2/n
