Rawr!
A very small orange kitten yawns while “attacking” a foot in a black sock. It is sitting in its back feet while its front paws are on the toes of the foot. It is adorable.

This fella was in the middle of the sidewalk this afternoon. Not sure if it was cold (high of 53 today), but I’ve never seen a dragonfly sitting out like that before.
Black dragonfly sitting on a wet concrete sidewalk. Wingspan is about three inches, the body and abdomen are black with light patches, the eyes are a dark red, and the wings are transparent. Might be a black petaltail dragonfly.

The moon is awesome tonight. An upcoming conjunction between Jupiter and Mercury is coming (closest approach will be on June 25), so keep an eye out for that, too.
Waxing crescent moon, slightly hazy due to the weather and because the photographer was trying to hand-hold a 600mm lens during a 1/60 second exposure.

Here's why I was outside with the honkin' huge lens. I figured since they were flying over the house I should at least attempt to take a photo. Crappy weather for an airshow, though. Brr.
A F-35 climbs away from the photographer. The background is completely white, due to the thick low-lying clouds the plane is climbing towards.

Blue jay sitting in the top of a Douglas fir tree. Photo was taken with a Sigma 150-600mm lens that I don't play with nearly enough.

This is from a couple months ago. Little brown bird was sitting on the hydrangea branch, waiting for the mob of larger little brown birds at the feeder to thin out a bit.
Borb on a hydrangea branch with many dead flowers. Photo was taken through a very dirty window so it's very soft.

Ridge duck. I’m not certain what they were doing, but there were several houses in a row, each with their own duck.
A mallard drake roosts on the ridge of a single story ranch house. The duck is silhouetted against a blue sky as the sun dips below the horizon to the right of the picture. A Douglas fir is visible to the left.

Coffee table wildlife photography. Bartholomew, commonly known as Mew. A lesson in why you shouldn’t name a pet after a noise it can make—because he says his name a LOT.

Mallard. Turns out it's very hard to take photos of the ducks in the park--they're so used to being fed that when you stop to take their photo, they charge you. Quacking. #birds
A very handsome mallard faces into full sunlight. The muddy background is pleasantly blurred out and the harsh shadows to the left accent the brilliant green of his head.

Daffodils are coming up. This is insane. Daffodils don’t come up in December. I was outraged when they were up in January, and this is worse.

Tiny ‘shrooms. Oak leaf for scale. Frustrating that I couldn’t get the phone camera to focus on the mushroom. Great detail on the leaf, though.
Three tiny orange mushrooms grow in wet green grass and moss next to a red fallen oak leaf. The cap of the largest mushroom is flat and the edges are wavy. The middle of the largest mushroom is darker than the rest of the cap.

Pollinator pollinating. I have no idea what this is, but it has wasp-wings.
