The Chevron CEO is warning about physical shortages of gas. Looks like it's going to come pretty soon too. #news #gas #oil #StraitOfHormuz #IranWar Source: www.fool.com/investing/20...

The CEO said...

Most of us are focused on the price of gas (and maybe oil as well), but speaking at the Milken Institute on May 4, Chevron's CEO brought up a related and even more troubling issue.

"We will start to see physical shortages" due to the closure of the Strait of Hormuz, he said, explaining that so far, most of the world hasn't been experiencing major supply issues because the U.S. and others have been tapping surpluses and national strategic reserves -- which are, ultimately, limited.

He further explained that "economies are going to have to slow," since supply will be shrinking, and he suggested that the overall impact of the partial or full blockage of the Strait of Hormuz may be "potentially as big as in the 1970s" -- when OPEC cut off supplies to the U.S. and some other nations, and also reduced its overall production. That embargo led to soaring gas prices and fuel rationing: Those who could get fuel for their vehicles had to wait in extremely long lines at gas stations to buy it. In other words, we are probably looking at some harder times ahead.

This is so depressing. Soon we'll have no resources left on the planet thanks to AI. #AI #tech #climate #environment #news #water #climatechange

@ Now This Impact: AI consumed as much water as the entire water bottle industry this year. It also created as much carbon pollution as New York City.

Well this gives me motivation to delete Big Tech accounts. The White House hosted a Big Tech dinner with CEOs that included Mark Zuckerberg, Tim Cook, Bill Gates, and Sam Altman. #tech #Trump #Meta #news #politics #uspol Link to C-SPAN video: www.c-span.org/program/whit...

President Trump Hosts Tech Leaders for White House Dinner

President Donald Trump hosted tech leaders for a dinner in the State Dining Room at the White House. Guests included Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg, Apple CEO Tim Cook, Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates, and OpenAI CEO Sam Altman. They discussed new investments in the U.S., including at least $600 billion from Meta by 2028, $600 billion from Apple, and $250 billion from Google over the next two years. Trump also answered questions on the first jobs report since he fired the leader of the Bureau of Labor Statistics, expressed his confidence in HHS Secretary RFK Jr., addressed new tariffs on chips and semiconductors, and spoke about the NYC mayoral race.

Learned this fact yesterday. I didn't realize that the percentage of greenhouse gas emissions was so high from consumerism. Source: news.climate.columbia.edu/2020/12/16/b...

Screenshot from state of the planet news from the Columbia Climate School:

June paper. The research concluded that it is not enough simply to “green” consumption by buying more sustainably produced goods—it is essential to reduce consumption. This is because 45 percent of global greenhouse gas emissions comes solely from the production of the things we use and buy every day.
