iiinova — where your digital self keeps evolving

yeah it's completely absurd!

030

i guess i didn't realize how bad this had gotten? like if I want to fully control a soundbar i just bought i need to give it wifi permissions and log into samsung cloud. wtf

docs.samsung-hvac.aran.net.tr

(like literally the only way to do this without letting all my stuff go to the samsung cloud is to buy hardware and wire it into the dang thing. that's absurd: docs.samsung-hvac.aran.net.tr/wiki/Hardwar...)

like if i have a heatpump ac thing I shouldn't be required to use samsung smartthings to control it (which will 100% sell my usage data etc etc)

it should be mandatory for any appliance you own to have an open api you can use without requiring connection to some cloud service

I've already been using Syncthing to sync all my photos off my phone (instead of google photos) which has been really convenient. so this felt pretty easy to set up.

alright I set up KeePassXC and Syncthing which seems to be ideal for me. So far so good!

yeah this attitude from them is really frustrating. I hate FPTP but we gotta deal with it and I really, really, really don't want to go into the election with the potential to split the vote.

020

Yeah this I think is gonna be my plan since I already use syncthing!

030

Yeah I might try KeePass just because I already have a good syncing method with syncthing...

110

yeah I might try this since I have syncthing set up already to move files around...

000

people have said bitwarden a lot but isn't that just another private company hosting my data? I kinda want to get out of that whole sphere

10160

as someone who has been using 1Password for almost 10 years, what can I switch to that is ideally self-hosted/open source? tired of dealing with shitty companies that host my data.

23431

But yeah, I don't have strong opinions on which proportional system. They're basically all better than FPTP though.

010

At least in systems that are more proportional you know that _most_ people wanted the person in charge, instead of like 35% (or if we include non-voters, often it's like 20% lol)

100

yeah very cool!! love it!!

030

Vancouver, like everywhere else in Canada, needs electoral reform. first past the post and plurality block voting are not good electoral systems. Strategic/Split voting should not be a concern.

Yeah. If I buy something digitally I should just get the raw files I can back up and store where ever I want. Like bandcamp or itch

Hi, I made a steam page for my game, Soft Ruin. If it seems interesting, please consider giving it a wishlist. Thanks! store.steampowered.com/app/2882230/...

I feel like there's an interesting dynamic where Canadians have been freaking out for the past year and a half over US tariff threats to destroy our economy and annex us by economic force, and American friends who seem to be mostly unaware it's happening and don't get why we're on edge all the time

I remember reading the hobbit as a kid to my even younger brother who couldn't read very well yet lol. the version we had had awesome full page illustrations in it.

My "art director" philosophy is "bring on board the friend who you know can do this shit better than you ever could"

9621103

Yeah it is a very simple shader that just indexes into the palette based on the red channel. Basically a single line of code.

120

Yeah I wanna use it more - we don't intentionally use it much at all yet.

110

Yeah it just needs some way to index into the palette and red is the first channel so red it is. You could do some more complex lookup but for this game that isn't something I actually want.
