Might look to serious and dark as compared to the rest of your branding which feels more fun and light. But well, Godot's branding does seem to darken too, so either way is good!

I overhauled the UI and added portraits during the dialogues. The portraits are rendered inside Godot, let me know if you would like to see the set up. #gamedev #godotengine

Someone just saved my day, and told me to have a look at shader's instance parameters: docs.godotengine.org/en/stable/tu... Works like a charm!

Is there a way to animate the Vertex Color in Godot, so I can use the same material for the two "slashing" meshes while de-synchronise their dissolving? #godotengine #vfx

📰🚀I updated my Top-Down Action-Adventure Starter Kit so it works with Dialogic 20 and Godot 4.7+. It was about time! It is free and open-source by the way: github.com/Nodragem/top...

I created a new switch in my switch system: it awakes an enemy and then, it gets activated when the enemy is defeated. Below an Area3D awakes the two crabs and the red spawners (yellow lines). Then, to defeat the two crabs will open the two exit doors and stop the spawners (red lines). #godotengine

Final thought, if you use a framework like Phaser or libGDX, the code of the engine is written in the same language as your gamedev code, which really invites you to add things or modify things in the engine.

The advantage of using a game framework is that if you want an editor tool, you only have one choice: you write it "in-game", and if the framework is good, it makes it easy. Cherry on top: you get a level editor that the final users can use at the end.

Nodragem @nodragem.bsky.social · 21/08/2026
An example is the Path3D editor, it is not as intuitive as the Path2D, and it lacks feature. You end up having the choice of: 1) use it and suffer anyway, 2) rewrite it in EditorPlugin + Gizmo, 3) rewrite it in-game, 4) try to get it fix in the engine. This choice hits me several times a month.

I personally always thought that the weak point of Godot was the lack of direction on the UX/Editor. Like basically, I am considering going back to using an game framework (no editor) because sometimes, creating the right tools is quicker than struggling using given, half-baked tools.

In 2D art courses, we learn that black shadows is the enemy of appealing visuals. What I do in John Space is to make sure I have a purple ambient light, a height fog to mimic light reflection from the ground, and a glow. #gamedev #godotengine

🎮Many playtesters complained that it's hard to differentiate yellow and purple enemies. I think the background colours might be part of the issue, so I tried a new "blue sand" background. 🤔What do you think? I really liked the tropical feel of the previous one tbh... #gamedev

📺Toying with making a mock trailer. Of course, some assets are placeholders, and I can get better footages if I do more playtests, but still 😁it was useful to give it a try ! Would you play that game? #gamedev #godotengine

In this co-op game, one player can activate 🟡tails with🟡 paint, and the other can activate 🟣tails with🟣 paint. Also, the players share a levitating blob of paint that they can call to activate higher tails. Lot of puzzles to test your co-op skills in perspective! #gamedev

Is it me or in UcuPaint, you can't bake multiple objects to one texture while mapping each high-res objects to their low-res counter parts? This means, for instance, that the joints selected below spills its colors/normals to the adjacent object.

🔬Do you make automated unit tests for your game? 🧪 🙃I don't, but! I have a bunch of scenes where I can test simple units of my gameplay in isolation. When I create a new feature, I create a new test scene, and I code until it works! 🚀 #GodotEngine #gamedev

I added a drowning animation and a little particle effect. I did try to add a splash VFX, but I couldn't get it right 🙃! Considering that this is a prototype, I think I will come back to the splash VFX when I work on the final visuals. #GodotEngine

I tried to add some bubbles on the water 😅 but yeah, I probably need to make it more obviously deadly... Invisible walls are not going to work as the player is meant to jump over the water, and hence can fall into the water.

I wonder if I should add a Death animation to make it clear that you can't go in the water, or if a simple teleportation VFX makes more sense. As in: the mothership automatically teleports you before you die? #GodotEngine

I mean, it is less friction than having to write a EditorScript 🙃 or to set the properties by hand!? Or it could be part of the CTRL+SHIFT+A panel. As in, this pop-up menu could have a checkbox "Replace Selected Nodes", and an advanced menu like the one for signals.
000
Nodragem @nodragem.bsky.social · 08/05/2026
Could be simpler to have a "Replace With" action in the right-click menu, where we can select a PackedScene, and have a list of the matching properties, which we can check or unchecked.
100
Nodragem @nodragem.bsky.social · 08/05/2026
yeah, very common issue, and one of the first EditorScript I wrote, which takes a PackedScene and replace selected nodes with it. I'm not sure if "Paste as Replacement" is super intuitive if we need to instantiate the PackedScene in the tree, copy it and then use Paste as Replacement?

Difference before and after I plugged my laptop in #GodotEngine. At the moment, my SteamDeck (unplugged)'s performance is close to my unplugged laptop (25 fps!). Some optimisations to do today! Main cultrips? the screen based shaders (i.e. SSIL, water) and the Terrain3D.

As much as the embedded game windows feature is neat, it runs the game at a low resolution and my game was running at 80 fps in it.

Nodragem @nodragem.bsky.social · 04/05/2026
Pro tips: run your game fullscreen or on the target device every now and then, so you don’t find out your game is running at 25 fps and now have 6 months of work to investigate to find the performance killer 🤪🤪
