yeah uh you seem kind of crazy to me man you've written a lot of tweets about how much you dislike gay people. i don't really want you on my page. here's hoping you change your mind. not because you're bullied into doing so, but through personal growth and interaction with people different to you.

i am incapable of fawning there is one tiny shred of respect that i have for myself and it exists within my ability to remain vocally true to the things i believe in. it is my last good quality. the only thing about me that i am proud of. heavens knows how much i've suffered for clinging onto it.

whatever mental energy i have is spent constantly trying to find ways to recontextualize every negative interaction i've had to be maximally charitable of people who, quite frankly, do not deserve it. not for their sakes, but so that my own contentment and belonging feels less like a distant dream.

we're only a quarter of the way through depressive season and i am already feeling *so* misanthropic. fed up with the world. fed up with people. every minor annoyance slowly building atop of the last such that any solitudinarian narrative, however toxic to the soul, becomes increasingly alluring.

it sorta reminds me of the reddit-clone voat: in defining your community as [website but Not] you only attract a demographic of unwashed reactionaries & children. anyway, i don't know the jesse guy personally, but i know enough of his friends and coworkers that i sincerely doubt he's a bad dude.

it's particularly amusing watching what are very clearly libertarian site owners having to grapple with the unfortunate reality of the userbase they've attracted. the way jay interacts with the bluesky community is night and day compared to back when the app had just a few thousand people.

some hundred "i like your outfit!!!" compliments later i still have not figured out a way to respond to this in a way that is both honest and doesn't immediately reject their attempt at conversation "thank you!" terminates the conversation any variation of "i like your x" is usually a lie

bartender yesterday kept generously freepouring me ridiculous quantities of absinthe: like six or seven shots worth for $20 or so. can't tell if she was trying to be nice or if she was trying to kill me.
