I love making Zoru abilities, but my already-slow pace in making them tanked hard. Sooo in my attempts to make October the month of Zoru (which I completely forgot to do something for last year), the next 4 Saturdays I will (hopefully!) put out a new Zoru ability each week! For now, I will tease

A busy, black silhouette of four Zorus with new, unique abilities.

Just really wanted to show this off because yes, I'm STILL trying to build this website. There's a lot of work under the hood so I can be able to experiment and build what I hope are good-feeling idle animations. Still some quirks & todos (& animation) to do, but I think it's getting there!

Nothing crazy really, but I just haven't drawn these guys in ages. And sometimes you just gotta make something and throw it out there so they don't stay untouched, hah

Doodle sketches of various characters in summer clothing: a dog in a long sundress and a big sunhat, a skunk with a visor and more sporty clothing, and a hedgehog sitting on a blanket with glasses and listening to music with earphones. There's also a bear behind everyone who looks uncomfortable, pulling his shirt's neck and waving a fan at himself.

I wonder where those guys were at all summer. Or all year, really

#artfight 15, the last one! And it's rats! @muzyoshi.bsky.social's Pirats! Absolutely had to do these guys for Muz's first year in the fight YIPPEEEE

A drawing of a yellow, artsy bat, a blue, pouch cat, and a red mechanic rat. The bat is flying happily in the air as he looks down to the rat. The cat is holding on to the bat's feet as she's being hoisted up into the air in shock. The zipper on the cat's tail is connected to the rat's keychain hook at the end of his tail, who's being carried by the other two by said tail and pointing at something down below with a determined face.

#artfight 14: One small growth spurt wouldn't hurt for @lemonmae.bsky.social

A drawing of a mage crouching down to a small rabbit's height. She has marine blue hair, big round glasses, and a purple shawl. She's extending her arm out to cast a bit of botanical magic to a potted plant that the rabbit is holding. The rabbit is mute green-ish with dark brown pants and a backpack. He looks surprised as the flower and its surrounding plants they're holding springs to life with the magic circulating it.

#artfight 13: A clover's duo for @languidbee.bsky.social's lads!

A drawing of a Sneasel character with a long, white scarf and a blue arm band, as well as a Ribombee character dawning blue garments and a determined face. The Sneasel is jumping back while letting out an icy breath, as the Ribombee flies forward along the Sneasel's scarf. They're both dawning a clover-like emblem on their gear.

#artfight 12: A little relic of @olaxis.bsky.social's to invoke nostalgic memories of experiments (wanted to try a more grainy paint-y look!)

An illustration of a purple alien being sleeping on top of some kind of round contraption inside a water tank filled with bubbles. Zoru, Kirby, and Elfilin are all looking at it curiously and a bit worried from outside the tank. There's also a Waddle Dee looking from the foreground.

#artfight 11: Scribbly scarves for @scarfystarr.bsky.social, embracing the sketches and scribbles!

A sketchy drawing of a small bunny character with a big painter's coat and a long, red scarf; alongside a purple, Keronian frog character flying on a flying saucer kind of vehicle.
The bunny is jumping up with a determined face, hopping off from what seems to be painted platforms from the paintbrush he's holding. The Keronian is looking over at the bunny with intrigue, and a pink, scarf-like creature is looking at him rather curiously. There are many pen-like doodles all over the image, featuring different icons and characters.

#artfight 10: ¡es el correo por la carretera para @ng5132.bsky.social! Un bosquejo del año pasado que finalmente pude hacer porque amo este gato cartero :)

An illustration of a mailman cat stopping by the side of the road as a bright, yellow-pink sunset rests behind him and his partner pigeon. His clothes are dark and based on the Correos de Mexico postal service, and he's on a green motorcycle with its headlight on and some smoke coming out from behind. His pigeon partner is flying beside him and carrying a letter, slightly closer to our point of view. The sunlight is reflecting off of them rather brilliantly.
The view is looking up on a small hill where the road rests. There are street rails, electric poles and a speed limit sign lining the road past the hill. The sky above is lined with a pink-blue sky with pink clouds reflecting the sun on the horizon, and a plane's contrail in the distance. The shadows being casted by the environment are long and near-black, with the grass veering towards a dark red, with yellow highlights at the top of the hill.

#artfight 9: some bluebear revenge for @votbear.bsky.social! Tried to push a bit of perspective to experiment with this bear I've bumped into a few times in the past

#artfight 8: Even the darkest stars sleeping through the night can shine quite bright. A couple of sleepy lads for @darkspine.bsky.social!

An illustration of a small hedgehog character and a dog character facing away from each other as they appear to float in front of a night's slightly starry sky. The brown hedgehog, slightly facing forward and dawning purple clothes and a beanie, is looking down curiously at a shimmering, yellow star floating above their hands.
Behind him is a monochrome dog with equally monochrome clothes and beanie, arms extended and looking behind him with a tearful eye. There's a glowing blue star that's shimmering in front of him and reacting to the star decoration on his collar. Both shimmering stars are emanating bright light on the characters and leaving a long, glowing trail behind, individually circling the characters.

A drawing of a panda, a fox, a beagle with a cap, a small dragon, and a candle-themed corgi sleeping together under a tree's shade. The panda is laying down, belly down, in the center while everyone else is snoozing around him. The fox sleeps on top of the panda, the beagle is resting his head on the panda's snout, and the dragon and corgi are being held by the panda's right arm. The dragon and corgi are holding hands and nuzzling each other as they rest.

#artfight 3+4: A double feature for @shaymoo.net! I had a hard time picking between a l'il Mina-inspired spin and finally drawing the lad I've seen for a long time now. So the most rational thing was to do both obviously

Very original, I know, but I wanted to lean into the theme! The aurora is probably my favorite natural phenomenon that I'd love to see fully one day. And it kinda pairs well with my favorite Pokemon soooo (okay finally I can play some Deltarune)

And one more because I've had this in the mindscape for the longest time and is long overdue. Aubo the aurora Vulpix ☄️

Two character drawings of Aubo, an aurora-themed Vulpix. She's white as snow with some light teal patches on her cheeks, paws, and chest. Her tail and mane is sky blue with some light blue and turquoise coloring to mimic a clear day's sky.
The left drawing shows her looking over with a curious look on her face as she stands on a small rock formation. The right drawing shows her sitting and concentrating, with her patches of fur glowing a bit greener and her mane & tail morph into an aurora of vibrant colors.

The AI bot replied with robotic gibberish that mimics the first steps of an internal reasoning model, cut off by the post's character limit.

They're more on the nose with their themes, but I think they're fun! And there's room for a bit of silly within the cast :) A big ol' thanks to @heysye.bsky.social for helping bring these lasses to life 'cause my design game is Struggling right now (Apple is basically Sye's doing honestly HAH)

Some doodles of Peach and Apple side by side that experiment their general look and feel, as well as their gear.

Some doodles of Apple beside other characters and their height differences. On the top, Apple is waving beside Ascot (the skunk) at around half Ascot's height. The texts also say that Apple is a cobbler and a beginner baker, while Ascot's an upcycler and a tailor. The bottom doodles show Apple beside Pine (the hedgehog). Apple is barely just taller than Pine with his quills. Apple is just saying "Apple!" while Pine looks unamused and asking "can i have some shoes now..."

A small doodle of Apple hugging Kipabell, a small grung character belonging to @heysye.bsky.social. Kipabell looks a bit surprised as Apple is hugging rather excitedly.

A couple of designs for ya before July rolls in! Apple and Peach! They have a bit of a sillier side to them, especially Apple, but they're awfully good at what they do

A drawing of two frogs, Apple and Peach, both looking forward with happy faces as they show off their specialties. Apple on the left is showing off a muted blue shoe, while Peach on the right holds out a chocolate muffin.

A small reference sheet of Apple the frog. She's standing on one leg and as cheery as she can be. She's a red frog that mimics the color palette of an apple, with an apple-themed beret and a worm scarf. She wears brown, patchy clothes, formal dress shoes, and a couple of artsy pins.
The doodles beside the key art show her off working with Ascot as a cheery cobbler and her jumping with a small kid fox with glee. The text beside the first doodle says "they're colleagues! they help each other out for orders around shoes and clothing." The text beside the second doodle reads "even though she's a young adult, her silly and cheery energy mixes well with youngsters and kids."

A small reference sheet for Peach the frog. She's a pink frog with patches of yellow and cream that mimic a peach's colors. She's wearing a peach-themed hat and shawl while holding out a baker's tray of cookies.
The doodles beside the key art show her walking into somewhere with a basket of baked goods, multiple boxes of pastries, and a satchel of what's presumed to be more baked goods. She says out loud "bakery delivery!!" to Note in a barista outfit and an older man who's holding the door for her. Another doodle shows her and Apple running to the side, with the text saying "Apple is the more bubbly sister...while Peach is more practical and rather proactive!"

Little did they know they'd be a sick team if they put their differences aside (yes I love that trope) Funnily enough, I found the original scribble of this idea in the middle of drawing this. I do like some things in there, it's a bit busy and I think angling the view helps it out

A prototype sketch of the posted drawing. It shows the same concept of a staredown between Zoru and Daroach with their groups behind them, but it's facing them head on as opposed to an angle and has more characters present and more actions at once, such as Kine crying in the corner and Pitch trying to pull Zoru by the ear.

0253

Danny! @noatpad.art · 07/06/2026

He's usually friendly despite his pranks and schemes, but not eeeveryone likes his tricks. It may have lead to a rivalry with a certain group

A drawing of Zoru and Daroach having an aggressive staredown at each other. Zoru's crossing his arms and looking up with an angry smile at Daroach, who's holds out a threatening claw close to him as he floats over him. Zoru's tail is wrapping around Daroach in response.
Elfilin and some of the animal buddies (Rick, ChuChu, Pitch, Nago) behind Zoru show concern as the Squeaks behind Daroach look ready to go. Rick in particular is trying to convince Zoru to not instigate anything, though Nago is cheering for a fight in the back.

A drawing of Danny under a night sky. He's wearing a blue and yellow hoodie that has a shooting star motif. A shimmering purple star is hovering over his hand, which is emanating a glowing, wavy star trail behind it. There's a mint aurora-like pattern in the background.

A drawing of Neil the fox under a night sky. There's a plethora of colorful shooting stars sailing above the dark blue-purple clouds. Neil is looking up happily as he draws a bright, cyan shooting into the sky with a tablet pen. It leaves a bright trail that swirls around him.

About 7 years ago, I, climbed my first mountain (despite being very, VERY unfit to do so). But the top was engulfed in clouds, so there was barely visibility anywhere. I had the privilege of doing it again, and I can absolutely say I was robbed the first time

A lot can change when you make a portrait and find more to yourself

A fan-art illustration of Chicory: A Colorful Tale of a scene overseeing the view of the Spoons Island. It's a colorful piece with Pizza the dog painting a portrait with Chicory the hare playing the violin in front of the sunset ocean. There's a fox sitting at the edge of the ledge, looking at the sunset over the sea, with some paint flowing in the water near the shore and with a view of some of the Picnic Province.

I had the pleasure to trade up with @cubivor.bsky.social and try to design an ability for her own animal buddy, Rube! Mixing Artist with the wallaby, you get Ink Rube! It's been fun trying to piece this together!

A drawing of Ink Rube: an ability concept mixing the Artist ability from the Kirby games with a wallaby-like animal buddy named Rube, belonging to @cubivor.bsky.social.
She's hopping out of a trail of ink, sporting a monochrome look with ears that look like ink pen tips and a chest that also follows that motif. Her body looks like there's ink swirling within her, and her tail is oozing ink as she hops out with a ink-colored Kirby in hand.

A small reference sheet of Ink Rube. Her main pose on the right is showing her leaving an ink trail behind her as she jumps, with the other drawings showcasing her colors and general look with ink.

Clip Studio ended up being broken juuust enough on my machine for me to give Krita a try, so I've been trying to chip away learning it for the past couple of weeks! These (and the fire dog yesterday) are basically some of my tests. Honestly it's pretty capable!

A colored drawing of Note saying "hey! quit it" as his younger brother Clef climbs up his back from behind and messes with his head. Leine is having a light chuckle beside them.

A few test drawings of different characters using different brushes, each with the brush used in question. On the left is an inky sketch of Neil, standing on one leg and looking rather chipper. On the top right is a ballpoint pen-like sketch of Zoru crouched down with Kirby above him. On the right is a painted Kirby with smooth shading as he sits, looking to the right in curiosity.

A digital, pencil sketch of a personified me, facing a bit downwards but looking to the right sort of happily, as a star floats above his hand.
