Climax: I have no f****ing clue what I just watched and I'm kinda freaked out in both good and bad ways........Holy s****.

Oh f**** I forgot this film has extensive oners and this is on Tubi...oh the ads interuppting is gonna be so annoying.

010

Noah Stickley @noahstickley.bsky.social · 4h

Today's watch. Only on Tubi. Then later at 9:00 PM PDT (not Standard Time, I just now realized). Only on the Internet Archive. Been way too long since I last saw the latter.

Well, I guess I greenlit something that might make discussions about The Last Jedi look like a keg party.....and of course I'm gonna see it.

NGL, this insanity sounds like something Paul Verhoeven would've actually made.

Alright what the F****?!?!?!!?

100

Noah Stickley @noahstickley.bsky.social · 6h

Also, f****ing WHAT on the last part???? Why is that a negative?????

What the studio noticed section and its just as bulls**** as what actual studios notice.....at least on the last part.

That's called *ADAPTING*. I get there might be genuine issues with this show, and even I have seen them and understood why but I feel like this is YET ANOTHER instance of complaining for the sake of complaining and talking about the actual issues with this series. What are we doing here????

000

Noah Stickley @noahstickley.bsky.social · 7h

Given that social media has been bringing out the worst in humanity to be the most cruel bully you could imagine, it's no surprise that when this was announced they were gonna go that route. Addressing the fears of teens/YAs about social media ENCOURAGING cruelty in its worst form.

100

Noah Stickley @noahstickley.bsky.social · 7h

The 2013 remake was called a copypaste job that wasn't entirely Kimberly Pierce's fault even though it tried updating the themes to its time...which is what this show is also doing.

100

Noah Stickley @noahstickley.bsky.social · 7h

In fact, Katt Shea got HORRIFICALLY mistreated because she "recycled the themes of the novel" to address toxic masculinity and rape culture on college campuses. I'm seeing that exact same criticism being applied here (and not to mention, 5-6 women wrote or directed episodes of this show BTW).

Noah Stickley @noahstickley.bsky.social · 7h

Even *he* knew he can't repeat what De Palma/Cohen did. Hell, another complaint I saw was "if you're going to retell Carrie, let a woman do it".....except it has been retold by a woman.....twice. Both were panned at the time.

This isn't me trying to defend his Carrie show, obviously I haven't gotten to it yet and even as a fan of Mike Flanagan who does cite him as an influence, I do think some comments of his *do* seem questionable...but I also *understand* why he'd take that approach.

100

Noah Stickley @noahstickley.bsky.social · 7h

I know, we already have a definitive adaptation. Hell, even my late mother would've agreed with yall given she was HUGE Stephen King fan. Its 50 years old and its still brilliant today.

*Sigh* I've been avoiding this discourse for a while now since the trailer but I guess I have to pull myself in cause I hate seeing heel turns on creative people over s**** that really doesn't seem to call for one. Why is Carrie of all books the one Mike Flanagan shouldn't have adapted?????

100

Noah Stickley @noahstickley.bsky.social · 8h

Again......sometimes forget Canada's got their own Law & Order. Also, who showruns this???? And why hasn't be fired for this yet?????

Also, HOW f****ing deep into AI psychosis are these devs that they don't give 200 s****s that they're severely bankrupt now?????

I saw this game once when a gaming YouTuber I've been subbed to for a long time played this and I was like.....what the f**** am I watching???? Hell, it felt like the complete opposite of a rage game. No wonder he hated playing that game.

Okay so Mike Flanagan is definitely doing a modernized take on Legion is he???? Not like even going full on Exorcist III but literally a modernized adaptation of the novel said film was based on.........eh why not????

010

Noah Stickley @noahstickley.bsky.social · 10/10/2026

This *still* found a way to make me genuinely uncomfortable and freaked out.....and I appreciate it more than I did 5 years ago for this.

No I have no idea if I'll decide to add The Purge: Anarchy or Election Year to the line-up.....again, I didn't intend to watch The Purge today but given Last Night in Soho got removed and I wasn't even sure if I wanted to include The Purge anyway but.....some pivoting had to done I guess.

I do not want to watch a live firing squad execution thank you very much.....disgusting way to kill someone.

010

Noah Stickley @noahstickley.bsky.social · 09/10/2026

Back in 2013, people were divided on this film mostly because the violence and tired cliches it followed prevented this from taking full advantage of its premise and social commentary. Today in 2026???? Its not the violence or cliches.....its the f****ing handling of said commentary.

Noah Stickley @noahstickley.bsky.social · 08/10/2026

Today's watch. Only on Prime Video. Yep.....it's about time I finally get to one of these, given the current climate here. Lots of surprises so far in this years 31 Days of Horror.

If You see This, Share an Analog Horror You Actually Like. I'll Start: The Walten Files. And while yes, its essentially moved away from analog horror at this point, it got its start there so it counts. Also there's a reason I might write a treatment for an adaptation soon.

*Side eye* Why did I get this sudden feeling this might be related to a show I regrettably never finished????

000

Noah Stickley @noahstickley.bsky.social · 08/10/2026

I can see why its developed a cult following over the years. Azazel is a cheeky motherf****er when it comes to toying with his prey, the acting is amazing, I love the cinematography and why the f**** did I not hunt this down sooner!?!?!?!?

Today's watch. Only on AppleTV. You know the shocker about this???? I've known about this film since last year, but I just now found out that this is the ONLY horror film Denzel ever acted in......yeah. Now you're shocked too.
