Gotta love it when the final boss is incidentally your easiest match yet. Unfortunately, the Saturn version of Bust-A-Move/Puzzle Bobble 3 doesn't have unlockable characters, so my 1cc of normal mode only resulted in a new high score.

In Final Fantasy Resonance you can see silhouettes of every Vision in the game, so you can tell who was brought back from Brave Exvius. They cut Fencer and I think there should be riots over this.

i inadvertently caught a glimpse of one of the remakes of Banshee's Last Cry. the SNES original's stylistic use of silhouettes gives the game an eerie, pseudo-anonymous vibe. it's distant and contributes to the feeling of alienation and paranoia. meanwhile, the PSP version just uses anime portraits.

Chrono Trigger DS receives a lot of criticism, but for me, its worst aspect is the font size--it's the length of a gnat's dong. It might not look that bad here, but consider it scaled down to a DS screen. Every text box has obscenely wasted space. It's like a precursor to Nintendo Switch gaming.

Card Fighters DS may be known for its bug & cart recalls, but it fails on nearly every other front too. It has maybe THE WORST English localization I have ever seen. Syntax, grammar, spelling, and logical coherence are messily murdered like a mafioso drive-by shooting. (1/4)

The OG Card Fighters didn't sate my card-crunching instincts, so I dug out Card Fighters DS for a change of pace. I owned it as a kid and it was my first CF game! It's also an absolute trainwreck of a game, with a soft-locking bug leading to cart recalls... Sorry for the LQ screenshot.

Last night, I wrapped up #MonsterRancher Battle Card: Episode II. A childhood classic seen to its conclusion: all cards obtained while at Rank 1. The only way to extend playtime further is to get 9 of every card, which I'm not interested in RN. I'm satisfied to have fully completed this great game.

Cue is a kawaii assistant even if she, like most of the cast, can barely speak English.

A cutscene that plays upon obtaining all cards other than the final one: Moo.

You'd expect Moo's gimmick to be that it can use any Skill card, but no: it's merely a clone of Dragon in every way. This does allow for three main Dragon types on one team, at least.

Points are only obtained from winning in tournaments against players with a higher ranking. Sometimes, the person above you loses before you fight them, meaning you potentially have to win another tournament if its results place a different player above your original target. With how cheap a lot of the endgame level decks are, this look me a fair amount of resetting, as you need a perfect win streak to win rank A tournaments, where the best players are. Points don't seem to affect anything other than which tournaments feature which players, and how Waldorf predicts the winner. It seems possible via manipulation to make the worst players occupy rank A while the best players are in rank E, but surely that's more trouble than it's worth.

My next #PS2 game is Tsugunai: Atonement, an RPG/adventure starring a man whose soul is separated from his body. To quell a god's anger, he must possess distressed people and ail what troubles them. Despite its Japanese developer, it has an earthly, folk atmosphere. #retrogaming #gaming

Tsugunai has a strong sense of humor, including this bit of lampshading regarding the developers not altering a 3D model to have its eyes closed.

The urge to not forgive is strong, but the concern over missing some kind of "good ending" is stronger.

Unfortunately, the game is marred by frame rate problems, which I remember from actual hardware. The basic effects when killing enemies chugs the game, and the second area is very open with a lot of verticality, and the abundance of models adds to the load. I'm going to fool with overclocking later.
