i feel like it's a combo of having to perform stress intensive jobs in a very competitive market and A LOT of psych meds not being legal there. also needing any kind of psych support in the first place still being seen as being weak and/or defective.

this so much. drives me up the wall that so much ableism stems from basic ignorance about brains. i could read college level literature at 10. i can read in 4 languages. adhd means hearing words is SO MUCH harder on my brain and i often cannot do audiobooks AT ALL.
