One of the three ICE detention centers in my state is about an hour away from my home. Watching this was like a punch in the gut, more like a throat punch then a gut punch. If one travels 28 miles north on the same highway, one come upon Zorro Ranch. An evil stretch of road, for certain.

4 years ago when I was a principal, I was about half an hour late to work. Our secretary & a couple of others called to be certain I was okay. One of the school district policies was to have a medical note after 3 days. Mitch McConnell doesn’t have the standard of accountability a principal does.

Today, 6/2/26, in Ruidoso, NM, ICE took a preschooler from a Headstart program and their parent as the parent was dropping off the preschooler. To clarify, a preschooler is 3-4 years old. Ruidoso is a small mountain tourist town with a population of approximately 7600 people.
