Do you know what made it smell so bad? Normally I think of gelatin and glycerin as being pretty chill, smell-wise. Is there anything extra in your recipe? I 100% want to do this though

it's not like macOS 27 (or 26, or 15, or...) came out of nowhere; the beta period was pretty long and the betas were quite stable. Having endpoint clients prepped for launch day (really _before_ launch day so customers can do testing) should be table stakes

One concrete thing that has helped is mailing a payment card to a physical location. And requiring confirmation that the participant has the card before activating it. That way if you see ten participants at the same address you know something is Amiss. There are people who relay cards, though.

We have found that a more intensive vetting process "helps" but it's all difficult because what even is ground truth? It does seem to greatly reduce total garbage though.

it's weird, what things are cheap on Amazon/eBay/Etsy versus McMaster-Carr 3/8" O1 steel rod? Way cheaper from McMaster. (Yes, you'll pay shipping.) And my experience ordering tool steel from Amazon has been Not Great. "Annealed, except for the edges where we used a plasma cutter"
