Low low low bar. But least we never elected Don Jr and Eric to anything. And I’m 99% sure they’d fall flat on their face if they ever ran for anything because A. Daddy won’t help them and B. They have the charisma of a damp rag

Congrats to the government on Denmark for signing an agreement with this man and thinking it wouldn’t prevent this

And iirc the senate of Brazil has longer terms so like, at least we have an emergency brake, they do not

Americans at least have the ability to correct things like this at the midterms. The Congress of Brazil has 4 year terms, they’re locking this insanity in for a bit

At this rate she will be preforming at the inaugural ball in 2029 (laudatory)

I will not use that as a model, not least because the current President of South Korea has said it’s broken (not that he’s done much to fix that despite having a mandate to do so)

At the end of the day I prefer a parliamentary republic where that’s not a factor. But if we have to be presidential, Sexenio is the right call

Jeff (Liberal Party - NJ) @yournjenthusiast.bsky.social · 2h
Sexenio is probably the ideal term for in a presidential system. Long enough to actually make changes, but not long enough to be thrown out. If we’re gonna have that system, it’s the best version

Jeff (Liberal Party - NJ) @yournjenthusiast.bsky.social · 2h
She gets those 6 years baked in, Obama for example had to ask for more time
290
Jeff (Liberal Party - NJ) @yournjenthusiast.bsky.social · 2h
Sexenio is honestly good. 6 years does give you relatively enough time to deliver, and make changes. But you also do not have to test yourself electorally again outside of a midterm which iirc as of late hasn’t been as brutal to the ruling party as ours

Well she has one benefit, the Constitution of Mexico prevents her from running again, her political career is effectively over, which gives her significant freedom

You’re not the first person I’ve seen to be saying this, and I feel like that says a lot. If your film depends so much on a twist that you also cannot spoil, you’re very much starting at a disadvantage

On top of that. I thought John Goodman was in it, I like John Goodman. When I found out he was very much not in it, I was disappointed. And I bet I wasn’t alone

Like, I’m not above seeing a tom cruise film, he sadly can deliver. But this feels like one that will fundamentally misuse his talent, while also thinking they said something profound

I think Labour can win, I think if Burnham can continue what he’s been doing, and conversely that reform can remain mired in all their internal divisions, that a Labour win is possible

For those not following NJ politics, please know that the Lt Gov resigned a few days ago because a report came out saying he did serial harassment, and yesterday he went on TV to say "i put that report through multiple AIs and they told me it wasn't sexual harassment." Former university president

Also, we really do gotta exploit how the Mormon church isn’t 100% lockstep with the Republican Party these days. You got a higher up guy condemning prediction markets and sports betting, which is basically Republican orthodoxy now. I see an opportunity

Jeff (Liberal Party - NJ) @yournjenthusiast.bsky.social · 9h
A former Republican in good standing with the Mormons, who doesn’t wanna do the more heinous shit the modern GOP stands for, while retaining that more fiscal conservative side could probably win, if the Utah Dems don’t put anyone up. Also variations of this are happening in the plains already.

The teals for those unaware are a bunch of candidates who emerged near the end of the 2013-2022 Coalition government. Basically former small c conservatives who hated how corrupt the coalition was, and also adopted some left policies. They cleaned house in 2022 and 2025 and I see that as a model
190
Jeff (Liberal Party - NJ) @yournjenthusiast.bsky.social · 9h
This is where I get to put on my “nerd who watches foreign elections” hat. Utah is interesting because I don’t think we can win with a democrat statewide. But a sorta never trumper who adopts some left stuff and runs directly against a Republican could win. Thats the basis of the Teals in Australia
