If you can freehand your art, great, but don't be weird about people using 3D modeling for references. Nobody is tracing a 1:1, you still need skills to make the character / scene. Ngl, you sound like a weird elitist pickme if you think using a 3D model is "lazy" or "cheating".

My most important advice for artists new and old, when looking for dynamic poses / aesthetic, do not sleep on pop culture. Seriously, get inspired by music videos, old movies, magazines, etc. Take an older idea / concept and twist it.
