I made an overly emotional video on my other socials- but I just want to say... “Coyote vs. ACME” is my favorite movie ever. It’s a story about perseverance. Even in failure, the fight is worthwhile. It’s so heartfelt and funny, and came at a time when I really needed its story. ❤️

Another chibi WIP from my upcoming comic! Quincy Francis… Such a strange one… I have a bit more before I’m fully finished. Blocking colors out in grayscale first is a hack I had no idea I needed! #art #originalcharacter #chibi #cosmichorror Check out my Ko-Fi for commissions! Link in bio!

Roberta! Her skirt pattern is inspired by Lenca weaving in Honduras, inspired by my own family heritage! She’s a journalist with a knack for finding trouble… of the supernatural variety. #art #originalcharacter #chibi #cosmichorror #honduras Check out my Ko-Fi for commissions! Link in bio!

Playing with a bit of scene design! I was going to write about how strange it is flipping between creative posts and advocacy posts, but honestly…Art is how I process the world. I have many thoughts and passions that I just need to get out, and art and storytelling do just that.

Roberta WIP design! I gave her fashion a few touch-ups! The skirt pattern will be inspired by Honduran Lenca weaving, paying homage to an aspect of her (and my own) identity. #art #chibi #oc #originalcharacter #artwork

I’ve been adding cats all over Prometheus-6 (because I can). I’m sure that a year from now I’ll have some profound revelation that they represent some greater life experience, but for right now…. I just really like cats. #art #meme #sketch #chibi #cat

“Excuse me, sir! Do you mind giving your statement?” I don’t think Roberta would say she has a favorite animal, but cats seem to really like her. She always has a kind word and a some good pets for them. #art #chibi #cat #oc #originalcharacter

I wanted to challenge myself to make full scenes to get more of a feel for my characters and their world. I love how much more personality they add to the characters themselves. Still have some touch ups before moving on to next steps! #art #artwork #characterdesign #digitalartist #oc

Art process comparison just for fun! I also really love how glossy the piece looked before adding the noise layer! But I’m a big fan of the wear and texture it gives when I add it! #art #artwork #characterdesign #digitalartist #oc

Outfit and color tests for Roberta! For a cosmic horror/adventure protagonist, I really like the challenge of a main character who still embodies hope. I can’t ever write something truly miserable. I never want Roberta to lose her heart. #art #artwork #characterdesign #digitalartist #oc

Thoughts from a sometimes hopeless artist. I have a LOT of feelings today, and I refuse to let my anger be destructive. So, I’m sharing a few hopeful thoughts to other artists who probably often heard that art and stories were frivolous. #art #artwork #comic #hope #hopecore

AGREE. I’ve been doing academic research on how hope and joy can serve as radical acts of resistance… How INTENTIONAL our social and cultural structures are to keep people miserable and beyond community building is astounding! There is nothing scarier to power than people in community.

Everything that has happened over the past decade is specifically designed to worsen everyone’s mental health and increase fears/instances of paranoia and I feel like the powers in society are explicitly not discussing this and instead blaming this problems on “phones” or whatever.

I love the trope where a character has some specific reoccuring theme or vibe. Over the years, Jack’s gone from the “edgy and mysterious” to “strange but delightful”. Jack is basically a cat, but only mildly orange flavored. 😌✨✨ (I made fun of him once and a friend immediately tried to fight me).

Prometheus-6 A investigative journalist’s mundane assignment documenting airship cargo transport takes an intriguing turn when she stumbles across the mysterious ship’s engineer, a broken robot made from a body missing man, and the dark secrets of high society trying to hunt them down.

In the style of a 1920s magazine, three people sit together. In the center is a startled woman with a vintage camera. To her right is a charming person with eerie yellow eyes. They wink at the man to her right, his expressionless face has a tear across the right side, revealing the metal of a robot. The text reads: Our world of unnatural wonders. Number 1, week of May 2, unknown date. The science of life, unveiling death, and redefining the modern man.

I’m drawing inspo from 1910s-1920s aesthetics, specifically magazine covers to get the right vibe. I was struggling a bit with just drawing the characters themselves without much to do. Bonus: Quincy cannot take a single thing seriously. Self-preservation instincts of a walnut.
