We are delighted that filmmaker Colm Laverty has won a FOCAL award for the wonderful 'Craigavon, New City". Colm's passion for archive shows in his meticulous storytelling. And the story of Craigavon - so long a byword for the failure of a new Northern Ireland - is remarkable.

Ammar Najjar, a Yemeni poet collaborated with Richard Clements, the Storytellers project director and filmmaker Cameron Turley to create this. An extraordinary piece on conflict and refuge. It breaks my heart to think of Ammar and so many others tonight.

Beatles 35mm Negative Donated At the British Film Collectors’ Convention, on Saturday 30th May, John Franklin of Film is Fabulous was presented with a 35mm BBC negative of The Beatles, recorded on the 19th March 1964, in the original BBC film can.

I had one of my semi regular browses through the archive the other day. Number of times I found my uncle interviewed in videos - 2, and there are probably a lot more. I'm going to have to sit down and really search for him. It'll make for a good 81st birthday present.
