Not really a car but it was an ex-Post-Office Sherpa van, with a dodgy latch so the sliding door kept flying open. It had about 4 turns of steering lock-to-lock, and a full 90 degrees of play before anything happened at all. You've not lived until you've had one of these sideways on a wet roundabout

I was seeing it as electric, but any little sub-1L engine could do this too. Keep the weight under 400kg and 75kW would be plenty so a small motor and battery would suffice

This would be purely a track car. You either tow it to your local track, or more likely, there would be a few of them there to rent by the hour. It really did surprise me though when I checked and those old Lotus 20s and Lola mk5s really were lapping as fast as a 911 GT3 or Cayman GT4

Watching the Goodwood Revival last week I was inspired by the simplicity of the early 60s Formula Juniors - 400kg, 100bhp, skinny tyres, no downforce, yet they were lapping as fast as a Porsche GT3. A modern interpretation of these could make a great cheap track car. So I sketched a quick concept

Yes, it’s a shame. VW actually mismanaged the brand from the start. They could never really decide or commit between Seat being their budget brand or their sporty Mediterranean brand and that confused identity was always a problem. My final year project at Coventry was a sporty efficient Seat saloon

I know. Of all the names to revive. It suggests low expectations - like they don’t want to waste a better name on this car so they’ve used one that no one has any real fondness for anyway. They’ll only pull out Thema and Fulvia when they have a car worthy of those names

They need to do an Integrale. Truth is, they already have the Ypsilon HF and they are not really marketing it. The new Gamma is a waste of time. Hopefully the Delta, when it comes, can fill a hole in the market for an appealing non-SUV hatchback

Such a wonderfully exotic little car. If Stellantis are serious about rejuvenating Lancia, they need something like this again. Toyota are working on a new MR2, so do a deal and stick an Italian body on that platform. I would trade in my BRZ for that in a heartbeat

Yes, of course what we have now isn’t primarily a telephone. The T28 was an absolutely perfect design for a pocket phone. Would make no sense as a touchscreen pocket computer. Still miss it though. Must have had 3 or 4 phones between that and my first iPhone and it was better than any of them

The only folding phone I’d want back. From a purely tactile and form-factor point of view this Ericsson T28 was my favourite phone. Small, solid, ergonomic, and looked and felt great. Don’t know how you’d get it to work or make sense as a modern smartphone but it’s still peak cellphone design to me
