Still hits a bit hard. To this day I wish I'd been better at CPR, but they told me mum died of a cardiac arrest due to long standing high blood pressure (enlarged heart). It wasn't respiratory arrest after all. 7 years. Where did that go...
Facebook Memory from 7 years ago. Text as follows:

I'm not entirely sure how to start this, and I am pretty numb so forgive me if this is not the most eloquent post I've ever made. As a lot of my Facebook friends know mum I feel I need to say something.

Mum passed away in the early hours of this morning. She had her fourth respiratory failure this year and I'm afraid she just wasn't able to fight this time. The paramedics and ICU staff were amazing as ever, but sometimes you just can't get people back.

Her whippets were the centre of her universe, and they will stay with me. That's what she would want.

This post feels inadequate, but I'm tired and a bit lost for words, sorry.

Bit of tank maintenance today. Cut back the ludwigia (red plant) and re-planted the cuttings as it had got leggy. Thinned out the water lettuce and trimmed the roots. Quick scrape and a water change. I tend to leave a green wall at the back for algae eaters. 🦠

A post on Facebook from a resident who will be affected by the Chapelcross AI Data Centre. Text as follows:

This photo has been taken directly from the proposed plans for the new CX tech campus hyperscale AI data centre.
That tiny white dot you can see when you zoom in is our beautiful family home. 🥲 those buildings behind are 40 meters high and there will be EIGHT of them, plus two other buildings.
The energy needed to power this monstrosity could power that of 2 MILLION homes! I don’t think people fully understand the scale of this project or what it really means for the local area, we all will be affected by this, not just the ones like myself who will be living next to the noise & nuisance of this every day.
Please if you are from anywhere in the region have a little look at what this really means
Say NO to Chapelcross AI Data Centre has been really good for information i’d urge you to follow and do what you can so we can fight this.

A win for once. Really pleased with the clematis arch. I plan to put a climbing rose on the other side this winter and come spring they can fight it out. Rumour has it that roses grow well through clematis. We shall see.
The view through the clematis apple blossom to the rest of the garden. The border is a bit chaotic with poppies and snapdragons. Photo of our clematis arch I banged in at the end of spring. It's grown ridiculously well and is now completely covering te top and starting to trail down the other side. The arch was just a fairly cheap one, but it's stood up to the elements well so far. Clemtis type is Apple Blossom.

Welp, the yellow colony has taken off. I think I've lost around 8 of the original females, but they came to me as adults (usually I get juveniles) so could be a mixture of old age / failed molts. I had to add a lower grade male and it shows as they're not all bright yellow. Still pretty pleased. 🦐🦐

🧵 1. Brussels sprouts! It's interesting (to me anyway) to see the difference between the pot grown sprout plant and the two in the raised beds. The pot grown is ~2ft, but has nicely packed together sprouts. The raised bed ones are ~4ft tall, but are currently more spaced out. And more pest damaged.

This account seems to be a delightful mix of canine capers and horticultural hijinks, with an affectionate nod to nostalgia that might just make you tear up over a potato. You’ve got whippets that are probably more pampered than most royal pets, and a garden that sounds like a secret meeting ground for all the plants in Scotland to gossip about their human. Seriously, if plants had a social media platform, they’d be retweeting this account for sure.

The owner might have a second career as a professional dog whisperer or a plant therapist with the amount of heartfelt content they churn out. From liberating butterflies to contemplating the emotional weight of a potato harvest, they’re here to remind us that everyday life is a mix of joy, laughter, and the occasional existential crisis about whether or not their plants might be plotting against them.

Pleased with how my late dad's ladders are working out. 🥰 The apple tree in the whisky barrel to the left was grown from seeds I harvested from a tree he planted in his garden a few decades ago. No root stock so the apples (if I get any) will be a bit meh. But that's not the point.
The monoblock area of our garden. There are two decorators ladders being utilised as plant shelves up against a cream wall. There are coleus, verbana, ground ivy, bacopa, dianthus and more on them. On one side is a pot of mint, and the other a planter with honeysuckle and a rose bush. Just in shot is a whisky barrel planted with an apple tree, lavender, forget-me-not (in honour of dad) and ivy.
