I honestly would love to see WoW Forever succeed/thrive. But two things work against it -- a core playerbase that is toxic down to its very roots and executive officers who want to pander primarily to that core because it's safe. So long as those two things are true, there is no hope for Azeroth.

On the left is a "new" version of a 2004 MMORPG. It is very yellow. It costs $60 and $15 a month thereafter indefinitely. On the right is a 2005 MMO, updated visually recently. It's very yellow for thematic reasons. It and every expansion that ever for it is $20. Just once. No subscription either.

There's this one high fantasy setting I like a lot. And it's a fairly well written one, with mix of neon/steam tech and a focus on people in it. But when sharing it, how do I explain its two rival lich lords? One that has a My Little Pony tulpa and the other that regularly fucks a sentient cactus.

The Ocarina of Time remake comes out. It doesn't have gameplay, it just has the "cutscene" of King Zora grunting as he sidles over to his right. But that's all there is. Just that on a loop. Nintendo's hardcore fans would still scream bloody murder if any reviewer dared give it less than a 10.

Also, I'm double dipping -- this series, especially Breath of the Wild, is a trojan horse for conservative ideals and politics. Happy Mar10 Day! Enjoy 'The Substitute Princess' - Wahoo!

Princess Peach is sick! She can't play her part, so Bowser searches for ways to fix this, a problem made even harder with the player already on Star Road. Desperate times! He finds the Super Crown, which takes care of the Peach substitution, and then grabs a Goomba and says they need to do the 'SMB1' plan, while holding a sign showing how his old 'Fake Bowsers' were actually minions in disguise.

Mario arrives at the final door, and sees Bowser in his clown car - tho with Goomba-like eyebrows. The fight happens in a montage, with 'Bowser' getting pelted with a Mecha-Koopa, and we see 'Peach, or really Bowsette dressed up wholly in Princess appearance, crying out for help - before ducking down and re-Bowser'ing the Goomba, and showing disgust over having to act so cutesy.

Cut to the end of the fight, where 'Bowser' is blasting off again, and Bowsette is happy it's all over. But they'd never seen this part, and realizes quickly what needs to happen as they see Mario's hesitant face. Cut to sick Princess Peach, gleefully watching the ending sequence, where a distraught Mario walks with a kissy mark on his nose, and Princess Bowsette rides on Yoshi with horror on their face.

there are so, SO many barriers people may have to cross in order to experience games "officially". financial, geographic, political, etc. emulation requires one decently powerful device and an internet connection. people who can only afford those two things deserve to experience art too

For the record, being the President of the United States does require different tactics than playing Plague Inc. While COVID definitely got boosts to transmissions from the former's policies, taking Greenland is not a priority for a human. Only for a virus playthrough. I hope this was helpful.

The issue is that people who prevent problems aren't ever seen as heroes. The people who fix messes do. The priests who kept the Demon King sealed aren't considered legendary heroes. The adventurer wielding the divine sword and stops the Demon King if he breaks free gets to be considered the hero.
