I don't know who needs to hear this but as a not so gentle reminder actual artists aren't wholly dependent upon their tools. If you took away my pen and tablet I could still create art with traditional mediums, happily even. Part of the joy of art is simply learning.

i get why AI is so depressing to me. because covid already shrunk my world to almost nothing, where almost all of my life revolves around socializing and watching videos on the internet (which is being ruined by AI) and creating creative works through coding (which is being ruined by AI), often using open source tools and libraries (which are being ruined by AI)

i already had so little and now even that is being rotted away before my eyes

As someone with a worthless degree in Visual Communications, I can confirm there are SO MANY moving parts in any illustration that all need to be balanced and in harmony all to make something that people can actually read at a glance and AI does NOT give a shit about ANY of that.

One thing I really love about Samus' Ravenous suit design is how it wordlessly tells you just HOW fucked up she got in that attack. Her suit was still recovering from Fusion before, but now it's been reduced to armor plating with her Zero Suit plainly visible where it can't regen. Girl is hurting.
