Hacen Diarra died in police custody in Paris after being assaulted by officers during the arrest. The violent incident was caught on camera. "You're strangling me," he is heard saying. Why isn't there more anger about this, asks journalist Katy Lee millefeuilleparis.substack.com/p/a-man-just...

A man just died in Paris in police custody. Why aren’t we more outraged?
His name was El Hacen Diarra. In a video of his arrest, he tells the officers: ‘You’re strangling me.’

Today marks my final day as head of AFP's Africa fact-checking unit. After five years of fighting disinformation with an incredible team, I'm taking a break before returning to a new role within the digital investigations dept in May. Sad to leave, delighted to come back and fight for our profession

Why would Meta bother to tell the public *which US states* its trust and safety team will now be based, if not to send a not so subtle that the corporation's political stance is now more welcoming to Texas' "values" than California's?
Meta making a point to say its trust and safety team will no longer be based in ('liberal') California and instead be based in ('conservative') Texas, sending a not so subtle signal as to which way the corporation's stance on political speech is shifting.

Massive change at Meta, as Zuckerberg announces they’re ditching fact checkers in the US and replacing them with community notes. Meta is probably the single largest funder of fact checking in the world right now. But that appears to be coming to an end. www.facebook.com/share/v/18Rc...?
