Thank you Kirkus reviews for this starred review! African American artist, Alma Thomas, made more than 20 abstract paintings inspired by space exploration. This STEAM picture book looks at the creation the painting “Snoopy Sees a Sunrise” and at the Apollo 10 Mission which inspired it.

The Tuskegee Airmen were the first African American flying unit in the U.S. military. Altogether, 992 pilots graduated from the Tuskegee Air Field courses, and they flew 1,578 missions and 15,533 sorties, destroyed 261 enemy aircraft, and won more than 850 medals.
