It was a good mix. The tutorial level without the timer was a good choice to dynamically add a few minutes where needed, so once the actual level started everyone was prepared and didn't mind the timer. Enough players finished it and those who didn't sometimes came back later for another try 😊.

Having that underwater space in Shallow Pond transforms the levels a lot. It's a bit like going hiking and suddenly stepping into a completely unexpected environment. Still can't get enough of this, especially on a handheld. #gamedev #steamdeck #retrogames #3dplatfomer

I had a 10min timer after the tutorial level. Part of them finished the demo, others ran out of time. Plenty of younger kids died several times since you will only lose a few shells when dying and can continue at level entrance. People didn't have to wait that long, which was nice.

I only had an one hour drive, but it was still costly, despite the sponsored booth. You would really need to make tons of preparations, make appointments, prepare a lot of press outreach, have a showfloor-style demo. For me it was well worth it through the combination of things I got out of it.

Retro all the way! Added Boost Jump to Shallow Pond: Double Jump + Dash, then jump right as you land to trigger it. Pushes you forward and slightly higher. Stomping near enemies now stuns them + more fixes and additions. Also in the demo! #retrogames #steamdeck #3dplatformer
