Two days ago, the results of Afghanistan’s Kankor were announced, yet girls were barred from even taking the exam. This is not simply discrimination it is #genderapartheid a system that denies half of society access to education and a future based solely on their gender.

Officially, all beauty salons were closed by the Taliban in August 2023, shuttering 12,000 businesses with the loss of more than 50,000 female beautician jobs.
