we’re at a reclaim and rebuild moment in music. all these platforms n institutions r done. support independent artists/labels/venues/radio/grassroots projects, say NO to the corporations, put on events n release music together, share equipment n studios, support each others work. WE are the culture.

Where's the evidence that mental health is being "overdiagnosed"?

Dear UK government,

Let's be clear: our mental health is getting worse, and cutting benefits won’t help.

You claim mental health is being “overdiagnosed”, but where’s the evidence?

The reality is that our environment affects our wellbeing - pandemics, the cost of living crisis, political unrest and ongoing concerns around climate change are all taking their toll.

But when people seek help, they face months, or even years, of waiting.

Rhetoric like this is dangerous. It reinforces stigma and stops people getting support.

If you’re serious about change, listen to those affected. We can turn this crisis around - but only if the government works with us, not against us.

We look forward to hearing from you,

Mind

Obviously! There are many complex, interweaving reasons for this of course. But one thing that often gets overlooked for newer/lower-profile artists trying to develop a live following, is that support slots (if it's even an option) still typically pay £0-50 - and have done for the last 20 years.

Comet girl, acrylic and acrylgouache on 20 x 30 in. watercolor board Just wanted to paint something real big and rainbowy to contrast how overcast it’s been lately

Painting of a woman holding a comet. She has rainbow dreads, a red jacket, blue green jeans and a purple sweater. She is looking at the viewer. The background is pitch black. The comet is making a rainbow trail and is flanked by raining clouds. Painted by prinnay/ gdbee in 2024, acrylics on watercolor board
