remember when we found out the creator of attack on titan was a japanese nationalist and very anti Korean but people either forgot, didn't know, or didn't care and kept reading it anyway.... That's what the hp situation is reminding me of...

Child-free people have pivoted so far from the tradwife/mom life that sometimes it leads to rejection and criticism of any and all forms of motherhood. No, having a baby won't save people from their trauma or fix them or "give them purpose" and it shouldn't be the goal for every person,

I just find it so baffling that someone accused the creator of idwtbamg of colorism just because Aika just ain't dark enough for her...

This is part of what I'm referring to with many people demanding stories that reassure them they're a good person. They want the moral instruction because otherwise, rather than processing the reading experience, there's a thrum of "am I bad? am I bad? what if someone finds out I'm bad?"

Tumblr post by graftini:

stories about abuse are allowed to exist without reducing themselves to moral instruction. i think sometimes when people complain about the “romanticization” of abuse, what they're actually objecting to isn't necessarily the way abuse is being represented, but the fact that the representation doesn't provide them with constant moral reassurance. like, there is a difference between “this story frames abuse as desirable or inherently romantic” and “this story depicts abuse in an erotic/ambiguous/complicated way and doesn't repeatedly tell me that abuse is bad, therefore the depiction itself is irresponsible.”

be kind to victims when they come forward with their stories. especially when their perpetrators will often times will never face any consequences for what they've done.

there were assholes and bullies way before covid happened something shifted around 2017ish and fandom entitlement got worse and people deemed it acceptable to ruin people if you played with dolls "wrong"

everyone wants to tell artists what to do and i wish we could shift to telling audiences what to do sometimes. if you liked webcomics that were on tapas, follow somewhere else. learn to use RSS. don't let the seamlessness of apps turn your brain into soup. you can change your habits
