Used to use GiffGaff. I switched away because I was throttled to unusable speeds in the middle of the day and on my commutes basically rendering my phone a WiFi device. Not a great experience even if it was relatively cheap.

Totally get you, clear as mud so far. Their stream was full of corpo-speak where what they've said may be true 'in a manner of speaking', but not in the way that users are thinking about. It'll probably take some time for the dust to settle on this one. 😓

From what I gathered, chat isn't used for the training if you're opted out. However auto-mod, captions etc. will still 'parse' through AI without going through the training 'input' process. That being said they're also Amazon so they've probably training on everything and will carry on anyway...

Also, on windows, it'll pull patches and config gradually over an extended period. Sometimes it's literally a case of leaving them on overnight to get everything downloaded and ready, depending on your policies.

Intune takes up to 8 hours to sync each time a change to policy is made. Best bet is to set up a separate group with 1 laptop and wrangle that until you're happy with it, then dist it out to all the rest.

ProTip - don't stab your finger with a bread knife. It's a pain to deal with and takes forever to heal up. Related ProTip - Baguettes from Lidl turn into literal knife repellent boulders when heated, especially after a day. These two facts may be related. Please be more careful than I've been. x_x

Most challenging part was drive mappings in since I have multiple and chose to use a snapshotting system. If that could have been automatic then honestly the process would have been just about frictionless. Anyone using a single drive PC wouldn’t have that problem.

Well, I've finally made the switch. My desktop is now CachyOS and I've ditched Windows 11 and the cesspit of ads, marketing and forced AI altogether. It's impressive how far Linux has come in the last few years. I was able to get just about everything set up in around 4 hours last night.
